Purpose of the Role: 

In this role, you will play a crucial part in bringing industry-leading practices and methodologies in product management to our organization. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence and discipline surrounding product management, with a strong emphasis on optimizing our product development processes. 

Develop and deploy AI (including Generative AI) and other advanced software technologies to support Lilly’s efforts across drug discovery, drug development, evidence generation and clinical adoption. Coordinate with clinical, scientific, and engineering leaders to establish/refine the software roadmap incorporating AI technologies aligned to business priorities. Work hand-in-hand with the engineering organization to execute against that roadmap, launching products and platforms that ultimately help improve the pace and efficiency of drug development and adoption. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluate current practices of our existing product management processes and identify areas for improvement and effectiveness

  • Develop and maintain a strategic product roadmap for AI (including Generative AI) and related technologies

  • Lead Lilly in developing tech products with a product-centric mindset

  • Facilitate build/buy/partner decisions related to AI roadmap

  • Partner seamlessly with software engineering teams to define, launch, improve and support AI products used by development, clinical operations and commercial teams

  • Ensure roadmap translates into “shovel ready” engineering work that aligns with overall priorities 

  • Effectively manage product team and portfolio of projects at scale

  • Evangelize externally to help establish Tech@Lilly Team as a highly sought after place to work for top software talent

  • Foster a culture of product excellence with high standards for user experience, scientific evidence, and meeting all regulatory and ethical standards

  • Interface with key leads, teams and stakeholders across Lilly

  • Stay abreast of the latest AI developments and life science applications, helping to keep Lilly leadership informed of relevant developments

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in product management. Propose and implement innovative approaches to streamline workflows, accelerate development cycles, and maximize product value.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years prior experience in devising AI Strategies for the organization

  • A minimum of five years' experience is required in deploying large-scale AI solutions for enterprise use on both on-premise and cloud platforms.

  • Engineering degree or master’s in computer science or math or related technical field

  • 15+ years of experience in leading tech innovation in technology industry 

  • 15+ years work experience in software technology and life sciences 

  • 4+ years' experience in a senior leadership role building and managing Software Product Management teams

Additional Preferences:

  • Understanding of and experience with agile software development approaches

  • Experience with consumer software, cloud based software and AI/ML products

  • Experience with clinical trial software platforms, lab information management systems, diagnostic lab tools, digital therapeutics or connected care

  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency and focus on organizational impact

  • Delivered customer facing Gen AI products 

  • Life science R&D and/or clinical trial work experience 

  • Strong communication skills - able to engage technically, with executive leadership, and peers in other departments
