As an Application Engineer, you'll support BMS integration in Electric Vehicles, working with cross-functional teams, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
As a Application Engineer specializing in Battery Management System (BMS) for Electric Vehicle applications, you will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration and optimal performance of our BMS solutions. You will leverage your expertise in EV electronics, embedded systems, and communication protocols to support the development and deployment of innovative BMS solutions. You'll bridge the gap between our R&D team and customers, ensuring a smooth and successful experience.
Requirements
Here's what you'll do:
- Become a subject matter expert on Maxwell's BMS solutions and the broader EV battery ecosystem.
- Work closely with customers throughout the integration journey, from initial onboarding to troubleshooting, and guarantee successful BMS adoption in their EV applications.
- Utilize your expertise in embedded system engineering and digital/analog electronics to design, develop, and optimize Battery Management System (BMS) solutions for automotive EV applications.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience in communication protocols such as CAN, J1939, SPI, and proficiency in Embedded C and JSON to implement robust BMS functionalities.
- Engage in requirement elicitation and technical negotiation to understand customer needs and translate them into actionable design specifications for BMS solutions.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including R&D, engineering, and product management teams, to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Foster effective communication and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions for BMS-related challenges.
- Stay updated with industry standards and regulations, including ISO26262, UL standards, and AIS, to ensure compliance and adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Act as a technical advisor and support external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, by providing technical guidance and resolving inquiries related to BMS integration and performance.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of BMS design methodologies, processes, and best practices to enhance efficiency and innovation within the organization.
- Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and technologies related to EV battery management.
We're looking for someone with:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 1 year+ of relevant experience in embedded electronics, preferably with a focus on batteries and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- Proficiency in embedded system engineering, digital/analog electronics, and communication protocols (CAN, J1939, SPI).
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C and experience with JSON for data exchange.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven experience in requirement elicitation, technical negotiation, and stakeholder management.
- Preferable - Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO26262, UL standards, and AIS is desirable.
- Mandatory - Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a passion for innovation and a drive to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer expectations.
