Backend Developer (SDE -2)

Role Overview

As a Backend Engineer (SDE II), you will take end-to-end ownership of backend systems within your squad and play a crucial role in designing, building, and scaling Seekho’s core services. You will architect high-quality and reliable APIs, improve critical backend components, and ensure our systems remain performant, secure, and maintainable.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role, where you are expected to independently lead complex features, drive technical discussions, and elevate engineering quality within the squad. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, developers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver complex backend features end-to-end—from understanding requirements to deployment.
• Translate business needs into robust, scalable backend solutions.

• Design clean, modular, scalable system components.
• Refactor and improve critical backend modules to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Establish and promote engineering best practices within the squad.
• Conduct high-quality code reviews, ensuring maintainable and efficient code.

• Work closely with PMs, designers, and frontend teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Provide technical clarity during planning, assisting in scoping and solutioning.
• Mentor junior engineers through guidance, pairing, and reviews.

Diagnose system bottlenecks, fix large-scale issues, and optimize backend performance.

Ensure security standards and data integrity across backend workflows.

• 3-6 years of experience building scalable backend systems.

• Strong ability to design scalable, maintainable, and performant backend systems.
• Deep understanding of DSA (Data Structures & Algorithms) and OOPs principles
• Strong command over system design, distributed systems, caching strategies, and architectural trade-offs.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services at scale.
• Hands-on knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL), query optimization, indexing, and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS/GCP) and backend infrastructure components is a strong plus.
• Ability to profile, debug, and optimize backend services for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
