Cloud Engineer (JL3) – Job Description
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure, CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud cost optimization. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure, automating deployments, and ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation:
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ARM templates, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Develop and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate cloud resource provisioning and configuration management.
- Implement cloud cost optimization strategies to reduce expenses
CI/CD Pipeline & Automation:
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, and other DevOps toolchains.
- Define reusable Github pipeline templates for streamlined infrastructure deployment.
- Automate build, release, and deployment processes for cloud infrastructure and applications.
Security & Compliance:
- Implement RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and strict access controls for cloud environments.
- Develop secure-by-design pipelines integrating security tools such as Coverity, Black Duck, SonarQube, WhiteSource, and OWASP ZAP.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
Monitoring & Observability:
- Implement observability solutions using OpenTelemetry to collect distributed traces, logs, and metrics.
- Configure Grafana, Loki, and Prometheus for real-time monitoring and visualization of system performance.
- Ensure log aggregation and centralization using Loki for efficient debugging and issue resolution.
- Set up alerting and proactive monitoring strategies to automate incident creation based on system health and performance.
Containerization & Kubernetes:
- Design, deploy, and manage Dockerized applications and Kubernetes clusters (AKS).
- Implement service mesh solutions for better security and networking in Kubernetes environments.
- Optimize scalability and performance of containerized applications.
Collaboration & Best Practices:
- Work closely with developers, QA, and security teams to integrate DevOps best practices.
- Define standards and best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Continuously research and implement emerging DevOps technologies and methodologies.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or SRE roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services (VMs, Storage, Networking, Databases, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Proficiency in Terraform, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub Actions.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and container orchestration.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, RBAC, and IAM policies.
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki for monitoring and observability.
- Experience in cost optimization and governance in cloud environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Azure (AZ-104, AZ-400) or relevant DevOps certifications.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS/GCP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Go for automation tasks.
