Cloud Solution Architect - AWS

What success looks like in this role:

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of AWS cloud solutions that align to client outcomes, industry best practices, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
• Own end-to-end solution architecture for cloud migration, modernization, and cloud-native implementations, covering discovery, requirements, design, estimations, and executive-level solution presentations.
• Translate business goals into actionable architecture decisions and roadmaps; identify additional value opportunities (optimization, modernization, automation) and articulate benefits clearly to stakeholders.
• Define target-state cloud architectures across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including connectivity/integration patterns between AWS and on-premises platforms.
• Establish automation-first delivery patterns using Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices to enable repeatable, governed, and scalable implementations.
• Drive cloud security architecture, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations; design security controls across IAM, network security, encryption, logging/auditing, and continuous control validation.
• Provide cost governance and optimization thought leadership, including cost estimation, right-sizing strategies, and designing cost-effective architectures.
• Partner with enterprise architects, cloud engineering, delivery teams, and innovation stakeholders to govern technical decisions, ensure solution quality, and accelerate delivery.
• Lead workshops, architecture reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions; mentor architects/engineers and set technical standards and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and assess applicability to client use cases, including innovative services and delivery accelerators.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Skills (Must-have)

• Strong AWS architecture expertise across core domains: compute, storage, networking, security, databases, identity, observability, and container services; ability to design end-to-end solutions.
• Proven solution architecture experience delivering cloud migrations, modernization programs, and cloud-native solutions, including integration with on-prem/hybrid environments.
• Strong knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and ability to apply it to designs, reviews, and remediation plans.
• Deep security architecture capability: IAM strategy, encryption/KMS, network segmentation, logging/auditing, threat detection controls, and compliance-driven design.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code capability using Terraform (preferred) and/or equivalent tools, including reusable patterns, standards, version control, and automation governance.
• Strong CI/CD and DevOps engineering knowledge: pipeline design, release governance, and toolchain integration (e.g., Git, CI servers, artifact repositories, code quality/security scanning).
• Hands-on scripting/programming skills in one or more: Python, Java, Go, Shell (ability to build utilities, automation, and integration scripts).
• Strong architecture communication skills: ability to present and defend designs to technical and executive stakeholders, and produce clear architecture documentation.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking and connectivity patterns (DNS, firewalls, routing, load balancing, VPN/private connectivity concepts).
• Strong cost-optimization and estimation skills: TCO, sizing assumptions, pricing model understanding, and cost-aware design decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering (or equivalent combination of experience and certifications).
• 10+ years of experience designing and delivering technology solutions, with significant experience in cloud architecture and client-facing delivery (including solution presentations and stakeholder management).
• AWS Professional certification requirement: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (or equivalent demonstrated expertise).
• Experience delivering solutions in on-prem, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.

Good to Have / Desirable Skills

• Multi-cloud experience (AWS + Azure/GCP) including vendor/product positioning and comparative architecture trade-offs.
• Experience designing and delivering container platforms and workloads (Docker, image pipelines, container orchestration exposure).
• Experience with advanced DevSecOps tooling and practices (e.g., Sonar, Fortify, SAST/DAST, policy-as-code, security gate controls).
• Experience with cloud migration tooling and frameworks, including large-scale transformation planning and phased cutovers.
• Experience with DR/BCP architecture and testing programs across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Experience with agile delivery tools and ways of working (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence; SAFe exposure).
• Knowledge of 12-factor app methodology and modern application architecture patterns.
• Exposure to AI/ML solution design and cloud-native data/analytics architectures.
• Enterprise/architecture certifications such as TOGAF; delivery/process certifications such as ITIL, PMP, SAFe Agile.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science / IT / related field.
