What We Need

The Team Lead, Data Technology & Platforms is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing a specialized group of engineers dedicated to the foundational architecture of 2K’s data ecosystem. Overseeing four critical pillars—Platform Architecture, DataOps, MLOps, and Data Quality—this role harmonizes these disciplines to create a seamless, self-service data environment. The Team Lead ensures that 2K’s studios and data scientists can efficiently move from raw telemetry to actionable insights, aligning technical strategy with the organization's global strategic goals.

What You Will Do

  • Technical Roadmap & Vision: Define and execute the technical strategy for 2K’s data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow). Ensure platform scalability, operational reliability, and model deployment speeds support global requirements.
  • Engineering Excellence: Establish and enforce rigorous standards for code quality, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automated testing across all sub-disciplines.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as the primary liaison between Data Engineering, Data Science, and Game Studio stakeholders to ensure the platform meets the needs of diverse internal customers.
  • People Leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of approximately 7 specialists. Foster a culture of accountability and professional growth while driving technical innovation.
  • Operational Stewardship: Oversee the reliability of the entire data lifecycle. Lead incident response for critical platform outages and ensure root cause analyses (RCAs) drive structural system improvements.
  • Resource & FinOps Management: Optimize cloud expenditure across AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks, balancing high-performance requirements with cost-efficient infrastructure design.

  • Leadership & Development: Proven ability to build and lead multidisciplinary teams, driving both technical results and employee engagement.
  • Effective Communication: Translates complex infrastructure challenges into clear business impact for leadership and studio partners.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Job-Related Skills

  • Experience: 7+ years in Data Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering, including 2+ years in a formal management or leadership capacity overseeing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Architectural Mastery: Deep technical knowledge of the modern data stack, including Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS S3/Data Lakes.
  • Operational Fluency: Demonstrated experience implementing DataOps or MLOps frameworks at scale, including CI/CD for data and model-drift monitoring.
  • Software Rigor: Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL with the ability to perform deep-dive code reviews across different engineering domains.
  • Orchestration Mastery: Advanced experience with Apache Airflow or similar enterprise-grade orchestration tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience managing high-velocity telemetry data from live-service gaming environments.
  • Experience building "Data-as-a-Service" or self-service analytics platforms.
  • Advanced professional certifications in AWS, Databricks, or Snowflake.
