A job description for a Dell Data Domain role focuses on enterprise-level data protection, backup administration, and storage optimization using Dell EMC’s Data Domain technologies. These positions are typically within IT infrastructure or engineering teams that manage backup and recovery services for large organizations.
What you will do:
- Data Domain Engineer
- Storage and Backup Engineer
- Cyber Recovery Consultant (Data Domain focus)
- Technical Support Engineer (Data Domain)
- Software Engineer – Data Domain File Systems
- Administer, configure, and maintain Dell EMC Data Domain storage appliances used for data protection and deduplication.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity planning for enterprise storage environments.
- Manage backup and recovery operations using tools like Avamar, Networker, NetBackup, Veeam, or Commvault.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backup and restore issues across heterogeneous environments (Windows, Linux, VMware).
- Perform data replication, retention policy management, and offsite storage configuration for disaster recovery.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting playbooks.
- Provide technical consultation and workshops on storage and cyber recovery architecture for clients or internal teams.
What you will bring:
- 4–10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, storage, or backup administration.
- Proficiency with Dell EMC Data Domain systems and related technologies (PowerProtect, Avamar, Networker).
- Strong understanding of deduplication, replication, and backup workflows.
- Experience with UNIX/Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation tasks.
- Dell EMC certifications such as Data Protection Specialist (DECS-SA) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent hands-on technical experience may be considered.
