About the role

Global role responsible for all aspects of cross functional delivery and execution, inclusive of portfolio programmes within area of technical expertise. Multiple system / product / domain expert knowledge. Lead large, multi-disciplinary technical programmes with budget responsibility from £500k - £10m. Independent operator with ability to manage highly complex programmes, stakeholders and MSPs through delivery requirements. Responsible for compliance to tech and regulatory (SOx, GxP etc.) standards, controls and risk management of programmes and delivery. May manage between 0-30 people (EWs). Works alongside other specialist leaders to translate business objectives and align functional priorities to Technology strategy and Enterprise Systems delivery plans.

Leadership of virtual D&PM team throughout BEAT functions. Role sets professional direction across scope to ensure performance across all KPIs and objectives are met. Operates independently and takes 'high impact' cross-functional decisions with autonomy. Consistently exercises judgment to lead resolution of complex problems across entire scope and related interdependencies.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up agile delivery framework and delivering a consistent service to BEAT towers and driving a simple, standard approach to value creation whilst collaborating across the CH Digital & Tech organisation to have consistent approaches and best practice for delivery and portfolio management, to ensure teams work together and avoid duplication.
  • Responsible to partner with the BEAT Function Heads and Head of Operational Effectiveness to prioritize the BEAT portfolio – containing demand from CTO, D&T and Business Units / Functions – within the available capacity. Drive excellence in new product, platform, portfolio management and overall delivery across key initiatives within the BEAT.
  • Collaborate with the Tech Currency & Release Management Lead for the creation of the global portfolio view of BEAT new product roadmaps. This will mean working closely with each Product Directors/Managers/Owners in BEAT and ensuring roadmaps for each new product are defined, optimised for value driven outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Cost & Financials Lead to understand the finances of any CTO strategic initiatives (roadmap & actuals), as part of the annual CAPEX and OPEX review and strategy finance planning. Drive Financial Discipline for key delivery initiatives and collaborate to ensure effective cross-charging models for Business funded work.
  • Collaborate with Tech Currency & Release Management Lead to drive Annual Planning for BEAT to understand priorities for 3-year strategic plan. Ensure BEAT Functions are focusing on what matters most to deliver the strategic goals for the business. Drive teams to have an entrepreneurial spirit and get their teams to be the guide in Tech delivery of business strategy.

  • Lead large, multi-disciplinary technical programmes with budget responsibility from £500k - £10m. Set up and own a Delivery tribe across the BEAT organisation. Ensure consistent approach and quality of delivery across the organisation. Drive entrepreneurial spirit across the tribes’ squads in their aim for customer & consumer obsessed product excellence. Own resource strategy and approach for delivery tribe, including internal and external resourcing.
  • Work with Risk & Control Lead to ensure delivery risks and approaches are managed effectively with clear focus on SOx and GxP impacting work as well as other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and skills

8 years+ experience as an enterprise technology leader with product & delivery individuals as your direct reports.

  • 15 years+ experience in Technology
  • PRINCE2, PPM or Agile Scrum Frameworks.
  • Deep technical domain expertise and experience delivering highly complex programmes of work within a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop others: hiring the right talent; actively developing your team to perform to the highest standards; delivering through other teams and leaders.
  • Proven experience of delivering cross functional enterprise-wide projects of budgets £10m for global organisations. (Similar to Consumer Health).
  • Knowledge/experience with how digital products need to vary across markets while supporting the need for us to remain a scalable business.
  • Experience of working with global teams and suppliers across time zones.
  • Demonstrable experience devising, managing, and deploying a resource plan and budget to maximise impact.
  • Solid experience leading delivery teams in truly agile environments - releasing new product increments regularly, testing and reiterating.
  • A demonstrable ability to understands the needs and economics of a business and the market around it.
  • A user centric approach to product development, leading your teams to focus on the genuine end user need above the views of internal stakeholders.
