Job Purpose

GSK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Cloud Network to lead our cloud network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, network architecture, and team leadership. This role will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of GSK’s cloud network systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability.

Your responsibilities include…

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud network strategy aligned with GSK’s business objectives.
  • Lead the cloud network team, providing direction, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
  • Design and implement robust cloud network solutions that support GSK’s applications and services.
  • Ensure cloud network services are scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
  • Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud network infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities of cloud network services.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect cloud network infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with other IT teams, business units, and external partners to understand and meet network requirements.
  • Communicate network strategies, project updates, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with cloud service providers and network hardware vendors.
  • Evaluate and procure new technologies and services as needed.
  • Develop and manage the cloud network budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to support network projects and operational needs

Your Key Stakeholders are…

  • Senior Director Connectivity: Accountable to ensure alignment with cohesive strategy for Global Connectivity services
  • Cloud Network Architects & Engineers: Daily interaction with upwards of 10 Architects and Engineers, ensuring that visions are communicated, and processes are optimized
  • Portfolio Director: Weekly interactions to ensure 100+ of simultaneous initiatives are running on track and technical challenges are met
  • Business Units: Regular cadence meetings to ensure that solutions provided are fit for purpose in enabling GSK’s communications needs

Why you? 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical qualification with relevant experience.
  • Over 15 years of experience in Tech/IT.
  • Over 7 years of experience managing operational budgets exceeding 25 million pounds.
  • Over 5 years of experience managing strategic suppliers providing 24x7 operational support and technology vendor support contracts
  • and cloud-centric infrastructure.
  • Over 5 years of experience managing enterprise-wide Cloud Network Deployments.
  • Proficient in modern software engineering practices Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse audiences across various technical disciplines and job levels to achieve results.
  • Proven experience in leading and building robust teams.
  • Extensive management experience with suppliers and matrixed multi-functional teams located globally.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and the ability to handle multiple high-priority work demands simultaneously in an outcome-driven organization.
  • Experienced in managing infrastructure in both private and public cloud environments.
  • Proven track record in establishing SRE practices within the enterprise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a solid understanding of its technological trends.
  • Passionate about enhancing the customer experience.
  • Experienced in initiating and delivering large-scale operational programs.
  • Skilled in operating systems and database administration.
  • Proficient in agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experienced in the DevOps operational model.
