Engineering Manager - Platform and Infrastructure
About the Role
As the Manager of Platform and Infrastructure in APAC, you will lead key parts of the Platform and Infrastructure roadmap. Our mission in Platform & Infrastructure (PI) is to enable the rest of engineering by providing an easy-to-use and self-service cloud platform upon which all Abnormal applications are built. You will report to our Director of Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Engineering and collaborate with our world-class team.

What you will do
- Leadership & Execution: As an early member of the PI APAC organization, you’ll hire and lead two teams in the Observability and Data Platform space.
- Own and deliver the roadmap: Own the execution success of the quarterly roadmap for multiple across key parts of the Observability and Data Platform roadmap; engage continuously with the Tech Leads to define roadmap items according to the team’s charter and company priorities. Adjust and re-evaluate team priorities as required. Dive deeper into technical areas and provide direction as required.
- Uplevel Execution: Drive processes to enable the team to deliver on projects that are set by TLs as part of the technical roadmap.
- Manage the quarterly roadmap updates, project time estimates, weekly sprint planning, day-to-day standups
- Identify risks on project delivery (technical, operational, dependency risks) and escalate to appropriate technical leads
- Able to assess progress in a metrics-oriented manner
- Build a world class team: Hire, mentor and grow engineers on the team to deliver a world class platform.
- You will build on the existing capabilities of the team through hiring and uplevel your team through consistent coaching at regular intervals.
Must Haves
- 7+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer building backend systems and/or platforms. 3+ years of managing backend or platform teams.
- Experience delivering quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly and deal with ambiguity.
- Customer obsessed: Working with our internal engineers to determine the Observability and Data Platform roadmap.
- Recruiting magnet - you are able to set up a hiring plan, attract senior engineers, outline the vision of the team and build out a large team.High standards - you set high standards and expectations for project execution for yourself and the whole team.(Nice-to-have)
- Experience building platform or infrastructure teams to enable engineers to operate their applications at scale .
