Job Summary:
A Facilities Engineer is responsible for leading and/or supporting Aftermarket Parts Distribution Center engineering related infrastructure projects. These projects can be new construction (greenfield) or improvements to existing buildings (brownfield).
Projects are specific to new building construction, existing building expansion, renovation of existing facilities, sustainability improvements, and building systems modernization, improvement, or regulatory compliance updates. Along with handling Facilities engineering projects, depending on project need this role will also be supporting design and set up of warehouse logistics projects such as automated and/or conventional storage and handling system.
What You Will Do:
To be successful, a Facilities Engineer must utilize technical and soft skills, along with effective communication to lead and / or support the following type of activities,
• Logistics facilities site selection • Greenfield site and facility layout preparation considering local regulatory body requirements, i.e. building codes, site setbacks, roads, parking, etc. • Supplier selection • Technical review of the supplier solution • Engineering design specifications for the project, i.e. mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural. Examples of these activities include floor loading requirements, building bay spacing, roofing systems, HVAC systems, building electrical requirements, etc. • Fire and life safety solutions that meet local building code and insurance carrier requirements. • Basic understanding of Primary and Secondary Power electrical distribution system • Sustainable building practices like solar arrays • Understanding of Local regulations for construction of facilities in Asia Pacific • Understanding of Local regulations for conducting repair work in existing Asia Pacific properties
A Facilities Engineer needs a fundamental understanding about warehousing logistics and how it impacts building design elements such as clear height, floor loading capacity, electrical demand requirements, etc.
In addition to technical skills, a Facilities Engineer must demonstrate intermediate to strong skilled levels of the following values-based competencies (VBCs): integrity & trust; building inclusive relationships; customer focus; problem solving; priority setting; and dealing with uncertainty.
Although the requirements above describe most of the responsibilities of the position, due to the breadth of challenges that arise on projects, it is sometimes expected that a Facilities Engineer take on other responsibilities outside of this job description.
What You Have: • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree • Willingness to travel up to 50% of work time to domestic and international locations or depending on project need. • 5+ years of construction industry experience • Strong PC Skills (Microsoft applications - Excel, PowerPoint, Word & AutoCAD) • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Proficient in written and oral English language
