In 2018, we began with a WhatsApp group with a simple hypothesis: people in tier-2/3 towns weren’t really using the internet meaningfully yet. We believed that if we started with local content in their own language, they’d come back every day; once there was a habit and trust, that same space could naturally grow into classifieds and, eventually, something they used for almost everything online. This spark became Lokal. Our first instinct was to put everything in one place & one app - local updates, classifieds, jobs, matrimony and more. It worked, till it stopped working. Users gave us the insight - when one use case outweighs the others, everything else seems like noise. We listened. Like how Craigslist quietly seeded a generation of focused companies & marketplaces, we began unbundling and verticalizing.

Today, Lokal is a house of focused apps, many products, one mission - To connect Tier-2/3+ India to the Knowledge, opportunities, tools and experts they’ve always deserved.

• Build and maintain high-quality, dynamic user interfaces using React.js, focusing on reusable components, state management, and responsive layouts.
• Develop lightweight, reliable APIs and backend services, ensuring strong performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering teams to deliver polished, user-centric experiences across mobile and desktop web apps.
• Optimize both frontend and backend performance for various devices, browsers, and network conditions.
• Integrate third-party services, internal APIs, analytics, and data visualizations into the product.
• Ensure pixel-perfect UI implementation while also writing clean, structured, and maintainable backend logic.
• Flexibility and speed of execution. With ownership across Lokal’s multiple verticals.
  What We’re Looking For
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience as a Full stack Developer with strong capabilities in frontend and backend.
• Solid expertise in NextJS, React, TypeScript, and modern state management tools like Redux or equivalent.
• Backend experience with Node.js, Express, REST APIs, and databases such as MongoDB or PostgreSQL (not just basic familiarity).
• Proven ability to translate Figma/UX designs into production-ready, responsive, and high-quality interfaces.
• Good understanding of performance optimization, debugging techniques, and browser/dev tools.
• Ability to write clean, modular, scalable, and well-tested code across the stack.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a sense of ownership and accountability.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, product-driven environments.
