The Role
- Lead the finance function as Head of Finance, reporting directly to the CEO, with accountability for the financial health and compliance of both US and Indian entities. Responsible for strategic financial planning, controls, investor relations, cross-border compliance, subscription SaaS expertise, and leadership in fundraising and due diligence. You will manage external partners, including CA firms in India and Inkle in the US, and have the authority to hire one specialist as the company scales
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership
- Build and lead all aspects of financial management for Kenko across both US and India, including budgeting, FP&A, financial modelling, and SaaS metrics (ARR, MRR, CAC, LTV, churn
- Oversee consolidated books—India (CA firm) and US (Inkle)—ensuring accurate, timely closing, board/investor reporting, and fundraising readiness.
- Drive capital allocation and partner with the CEO on growth strategy, helping prepare for Series A and beyond.
- Accounting, Tax, and Compliance:
- US GAAP/India IndAS compliance, subscription billing (ASC 606/revenue recognition), payroll, legal and contracts, corporate governance (India/US).
- Manage relationships with banks, tax advisors, auditors; oversee all regulatory filings (GST, PF, ESIC, FEMA in India; multi-state tax, payroll in US).
- Lead monthly close and implement scalable processes for both entities.
- Fundraising & Due Diligence:
- Prepare financial models, dashboards, investor decks; lead due diligence for investment rounds and provide data for external audits.
- Strategic Business Partner:
- Advise CEO/founders/Board on commercial and financial strategy, pricing, margin management, and scenario planning.
- Support recruitment and team development for future scale
- Cross-functional collaboration with HR, Legal, Sales, Product, and external finance consultants.
Requirements
- Must-Have
- MBA in Finance from a top-tier Indian B-school (IIM or equivalent), with 5–7+ years post-MBA experience in SaaS/technology finance roles.
- Demonstrated success leading finance in early/growth-stage SaaS (vertical SaaS preferred), with hands-on, cross-border accounting and compliance (US+India required).
- Expertise in subscription billing, SaaS metrics, unit economics, investor reporting, and familiarity with fundraising processes and due diligence.
- Experience managing external accounting, tax, and legal partners; comfortable with audit, regulatory filings, and commercial processes for both US and India.
- Not mandatory to be a CA, but proven track record managing CA firms/agencies and coordinating with US/India accounting and compliance partners.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, stakeholder management, and communication skills—able to drive data-informed decisions and discipline.
- Ownership mindset, strategic thinker, collaborative, adaptable to ambiguity, and experienced in scaling teams and systems for high-growth SaaS environments.

- Clean books and fully compliant operations across India and US within 90 days.
- Reliable monthly close and metric dashboards for board/investor reporting.
- Scalable finance processes ready for growth and Series A fundraising.
