About the role
As an AWS Infrastructure Architect, you will be a key member of the PDT ICC Circle, responsible for designing and implementing robust AWS infrastructure solutions that adhere to the AWS Well-Architected Framework. You will play a critical role in deploying AWS infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, with hands-on experience in tools like Terraform, HashiCorp Vault, and GitHub. This role is divided into two core responsibilities: designing AWS infrastructure solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build, implement, and deploy these solutions across various departments within Takeda.
In this role, you will be part of the PDT ICC Circle team. The core team together is responsible for the successful build-out of the PDT DD&T delivery capability. A successful team will be able to design, build and deploy technical applications on-time and with quality, to support the overall PDT business strategy. This role will work closely with other PDT Delivery Leads located in India and the United States as part of PDT DD&T. This role will align to the Infrastructure and cloud chapter of the ICC. This position will report to the PDT ICC Delivery Lead for strategic direction. Day-to-day management will come from Lead, Solution Engineering during the 2-year+ build-out phase of the circle.
How you will contribute:
As Infrastructure Solution engineer, you will be empowered to design, develop, and enable products on Takeda platforms. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda's mission by leading the development and adoption of solutions that align to architecture principles and best practices as well as business needs.

  • Support migration, designing new applications or platform services to provide technical acceleration and value for Takeda's patient communities.
  • Consulting and customer-obsession: establish strong relationships with Takeda GD&T and DD&T product teams and aligning objectives platform strategic objectives.
  • Enable operational teams as well as application owners / project teams to deploy or move application workloads from on-premises to cloud through appropriate review and guidance processes.
  • Contribute to the production-ready architectural design of Takeda business applications, focusing on IaaS / PaaS designs in alignment with Takeda's policies, standards, guidelines and reference materials.
  • Collaborate with PDT DD&T senior leadership to define and execute on the long-term technology roadmap.
  • This is a hands-on role for a Tier 1 application supporting a US based business.
  • Advise and implement methods and tools that automate platform monitoring and reporting measuring & improving platform performance, resilience, utilization, availability, user experience
  • Oversee the management of the cloud environment, including spinning up new servers, adding or removing clusters, decommissioning servers, and performing other related tasks to maintain and optimize infrastructure.


Accountabilities

  • Infrastructure Design: Design application workloads and other infrastructure components using well-architected principles, optimized patterns, and non-negotiable guardrails.
  • Implementation: Lead the deployment of AWS infrastructure solutions, ensuring adherence to cost optimization strategies, infrastructure redundancy, and high availability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure solution deployment teams, platform teams, and operations teams to address business application challenges.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Provide expert advice on infrastructure architecture, design, system thinking, and best practices, particularly in areas of reliability, security, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and Terraform automation.
  • Reporting: Regularly report on the status of Takeda workloads within specific domains or business units to leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Migration Support: Assist in the migration of on-premises applications to the cloud, offering technical acceleration and value to Takeda's patient communities.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams, ensuring technical solutions meet business goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Observability: Incorporate observability into architecture patterns to proactively identify issues, maintain performance, and ensure the resilience of deployed solutions


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 + years of experience spanning multiple IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
  • Experience as a solutions architect.
  • Strong "soft skills" and communication skills.
  • Experience in implemented the following AWS services
    • Kubernetes for public/private cloud implementations
    • EC2, S3, API gateway, lambda, RDS etc
    • AWS network components
    • Cloudwatch etc
  • Expertise implementing Infrastructure As a Code utilizing CloudFormation and Terraform
  • Expertise in implementing a scalable, highly available solutions on AWS
  • Expertise in implementing cross-region DR strategies
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments in a globally distributed organization.
  • Experience working in a life sciences environment and/or familiarity with Takeda.
  • Experience working in an Agile/SAFe environment.
  • Ability to manage and propose proper technology choices to determine what technology and methods can be combined for the optimal result on an ever-changing product landscape.


Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise (Breadth and depth of knowledge, application and complexity of technical knowledge)

  • Broad and demonstrable knowledge on Infrastructure and AWS platforms required, including serverless, containers and modern application hosting.
  • Firm and practical experience/competency with Infrastructure Security Best Practice.
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory compliance requirements surrounding PHI, PII, and GxP.


Complexity (Products managed, mix of businesses, internal and/or external business environment, cultural considerations)

  • Supports project work as assigned by contributing to infrastructure tasks, collaborating with teams, and ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Functions as a global resource to teams in US by providing expert infrastructure support across various projects and products, navigating a diverse mix of business environments and internal/external stakeholder needs. This role involves adapting to different cultural contexts, aligning with global business strategies, and addressing complex requirements to ensure seamless integration and effective collaboration across regions.


Preferred requirements:

  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)/AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  • Terraform Associate Certification.
  • Experience in life sciences or healthcare domains, particularly with an understanding of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements
