About the Role:
We're hiring a Legal Associate, Corporate & Commercial, to support Dodo Payment's legal function as we scale across products, teams, and jurisdictions. You will work closely with the Compliance & Legal Head, founders, and cross-functional teams on commercial contracts, corporate documentation, fundraising diligence readiness, entity setup, and legal process building. This is an on-site role in Bengaluru reporting to the Compliance & Legal Head.
Responsibilities:
● Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (customer, vendor, NDA, service, partnership) and own templates, clause banks, and documentation workflows
● Own corporate documentation, entity setup workstreams, and fundraise DD package preparation; coordinate with external counsel across jurisdictions
● Conduct legal and regulatory research (including sales tax and transfer pricing) and help build scalable legal processes, trackers, and internal policies
Requirements:
● 1–4 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal team, with exposure to commercial contracts, general corporate work, and legal research
● Strong drafting, review, and document management skills with the ability to analyse legal issues and translate them into practical business guidance
● Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment with clear communication, execution discipline, and sound judgment on when to escalate
Success Metrics (3 - 6 months):
● Internal stakeholders (product, ops, finance, BD) route legal questions through you as a default — you're a trusted first point of contact, not a bottleneck
● Commercial contracts move from request to execution without repeated escalation to the Compliance & Legal Head; turnaround time is predictable and improving
● The legal function is visibly more structured than when you joined — templates, trackers, repositories, and processes exist where they didn't before, and the team can point to them during diligence or partner conversations
