Employee in this job function is responsible for ensuring reliable and efficient operations of physical or virtual servers, and other business critical infrastructure components.
They oversee the technology infrastructure that supports the business and support internal users in troubleshooting and escalating issues that impact system health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for day-to-day operations of Mainframe computing platform ensuring high availability including hardware and s/w components.
2. Manage Monitoring and Support of Mainframe Consoles, HMC, TEP and other monitoring tools. Respond to system alerts, abends (abnormal ends), and production issues.
3. Provide first line support for all z/OS, JES2 and JES3 and middleware issues using documented operating procedures. Perform first-level diagnosis, escalate to system programmers or application teams if needed.
4. Support regular maintenance activities—IPL/POR. Perform routine health checks and apply patches or fixes as directed.
5. Maintain accurate operational procedures, run books, and incident logs.
6. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
7. Suggest automation opportunities and process improvements.
8. Mainframe Batch Event Monitoring (CA7) & Scheduling, Mainframe Online transaction Failure Handling and Batch and first line closure of issues.
9. Manage bridge calls during incidents.
10. Responsible for Event management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Request Fulfillment and Knowledge Management adherence with ITSM framework
11. Acknowledge Tickets and conduct quick triage, provide solution and close the ticket within SLA; Ensure escalation of tickets to next level according to Prose within SLA time.
12. To work with global teams and stakeholders including PDO, Customers, internal & external Auditors, and cross functional teams
13. Participate standup meeting on daily basis and discuss operational issues
14. Actively participate in the analysis and review of proposed system configuration changes/maintenance
15. Focus on Process adherence, process improvements, knowledge management and Problem Management
16. Support efforts on Security & Control processes and Audit comments
17. Support 24/7 operations & flexible timings, Global operations support
18. Support Automation through Scripts (JCL and Rexx) & RPA(Pega)
Certified in ITIL.
Must have experience in handling teams across 24x7 shifts.
Must be hands-on with Console Operations and Batch processing.
