Job Summary:
Roles & Responsibilities:
System Monitoring
Monitor real time performance of the computing environment utilizing automated solutions, 3rd party monitoring software and in-house proprietary tools.
Responsible for rebooting servers, recycling production services as needed.
The notification \ escalation of production issues \ outages as they occur.
Document system monitoring gaps and interface with engineers to remediate gaps and improve monitoring messaging.
Recommend severity and urgency threshold changes in system monitoring software.
Batch Processing
Responsible for monitoring and ensuring successful completion of all mainframe and distributed-based batch processes.
Identify batch problems as they occur, notify on-call personnel responsible for the failing application and assist with problem resolution.
Maintain IT Operations batch run documentation.
Track incoming and outgoing file transmissions to ensure they meet deadlines, escalating to appropriate support teams and management when necessary.
Reading system generated emails and taking appropriate action as required.
File Transmissions
Responsible for monitoring and ensuring successful completion of all mainframe and distributed-based file transmissions, both inbound and outbound.
Resend files to clients and vendors as needed.
Other
Participate in monthly code releases.
Participate in disaster recovery testing.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years Support experience required in various mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, ISPF Utilities, REXX, IBM File Manager and VSAM databases.
- Strong understanding of mainframe support operations, CA-7 batch scheduler and IBM Connect Direct.
- Expertise in analyzing errors and logs in CA-7, IBM Connect Direct, SDSF, IOF, etc.
- Expertise in Office 365, Outlook, Excel, etc.
- Some knowledge of distributed-systems based applications and batch scheduling software such as CA-Autosys and JAMS.
- Understanding of ITIL process and its components.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Service Now.
- Knowledge of MFT platform MoveIt a plus.
