Performance Test Engineer (JMeter and Cloud Environments)
Software Requirements:
- Proficiency in JMeter for performance testing of APIs, web applications, and databases, including experience with custom code plugins
- Strong understanding of Java programming language for developing and maintaining test scripts and plugins
- Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle
- Familiarity with Snowflake for performance testing related to data warehousing and analytics
- Knowledge of deploying and running performance tests in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Overall Responsibilities:

Performance Testing:
- Design, develop, and execute performance test plans for APIs, web applications, databases, and Snowflake data warehouses
- Utilize JMeter for performance testing, including creating custom code plugins as needed for specific testing scenarios
- Conduct load testing, stress testing, and scalability testing to validate system performance under various conditions

Analysis and Optimization:
- Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations for optimization
- Maintain and enhance performance testing frameworks and scripts, ensuring they are robust and reusable

Collaboration and Integration:
- Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to integrate performance testing into the CI/CD pipeline
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure performance testing is aligned with business and technical requirements
Technical Skills:
Performance Testing:
- Proficiency in JMeter for performance testing of APIs, web applications, and databases
- Experience with custom code plugins for JMeter
Java Development:
- Strong understanding of Java programming language for developing and maintaining test scripts and plugins
Build Tools:
- Experience with Maven or Gradle build processes
Data Warehousing:
- Familiarity with Snowflake for performance testing related to data warehousing and analytics
Cloud Experience:
- Knowledge of deploying and running performance tests in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or New Relic to analyze performance metrics
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in Agile teams
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in performance engineering and testing
- Proven experience in performance engineering, particularly with JMeter and cloud environments
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Design, develop, and execute performance test plans for various systems and applications
- Utilize JMeter for performance testing and create custom code plugins as needed
- Analyze performance test results and identify bottlenecks
- Provide recommendations for optimization based on performance data
- Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to integrate performance testing into the CI/CD pipeline
- Maintain and enhance performance testing frameworks and scripts
- Conduct load testing, stress testing, and scalability testing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and metrics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to effectively articulate issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
