Job Responsibilities:
Assist in the Core-level electrical design for Fluence’s grid-scale battery energy storage (BESS) products, focusing on developing safe, flexible, maintainable, and cost-competitive hardware designs.
•Support the development of Core electrical designs for multi-MW energy storage systems, including the integration of battery, power conversion, medium voltage transformers, controls hardware, communication, auxiliary power, and safety equipment into standardized products.
•Assist in preparing technical documentation, including key performance metrics, datasheets, Core installation, operations, and maintenance.
•Collaborate with various internal functions such as mechanical, electrical, software, verification, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
•Participate in electrical studies as part of system design, including short circuit analysis, protection sizing, protection coordination, and arc flash.
•Work with electrical component vendors to gather detailed technical information on system subcomponents.
•Support team on implementing feedback from regional solutions engineering team and lessons learned.
•Support the CAD drafting team in preparing system-level electrical drawings.
•Work closely with systems engineers and component lead engineers on system-level electrical design.
•Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Job Qualifications & Skills
- •Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering (Full Time) or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in Electrical Power Systems Design in Renewables (Solar, Wind, Hydro, BESS) Power Generation or related industries.
- Experience in New product development process and systems engineering, preferably in the Battery Energy Storage industry is plus.
- Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design, including component selection (breakers, fuses, relays), system architecture, site layout, functional safety analyses, auxiliary load estimation, and Cable sizing.
- Familiarity with the selection of electrical components and interfaces, including batteries, inverters, transformers, Cabling system and low voltage switchgear, ensuring compliance with IEC, NEC, and IEEE design standards.
- Knowledge of standards such as NFPA 70, IEC 60364, UL 9540, IEC 62933 is plus.
- Should understand Power flow arrangement and Single line diagrams.
- Experience in tools like JAMA and Jira is a plus.
- Possessing strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities for collaborative engagement with cross-functional teams and clients, and the capacity to work seamlessly with global teams across diverse backgrounds and time zones.
