Job Description:

The Principal Engineer, SW Development will be responsible for the design and development of software solutions as part of an Agile software development team. The Principal Engineer will serve as the technical lead to develop high level technical designs, produce, and execute code, assess, and troubleshoot software programs and applications. Principal Engineer will be leading the product team in the best interest of the company goals.

  • Collaborate with Product Manager(s) and other stakeholders in the development, maintenance, initiation, and delivery of solutions and success of the product and applications in an agile environment.
  • Analyze technical specifications and requirements; provide task and/or project breakdown and estimations,
  • Research, design, configure, code, develop, test, debug, implement, and document software specifications for medium to large-scale, complex software applications throughout the project life cycle.
  • Enable secure and high availability solutions in a SaaS environment.
  • Assist with research of emerging software development tools, design patterns and standards.
  • Participate in peer design and code reviews.
  • Perform software application analysis and review to ensure responsive User Interface (UI) components and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for integrations.
  • Work as part of a scrum team to develop new features for patients and practices.
  • Create and utilize automated unit tests to ensure quality of code.
  • Participate in architectural reviews.
  • Research proof-of-concept work with new technologies.
  • Provide estimates, technical direction and feasibility guidance on software development projects and prospective contracts.
  • Write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Administer diagnostic analysis of test results and deliver solutions to critical areas.
  • Support Quality software development by identifying areas for improvement.
  • Direct research on emerging application development products, languages, and standards.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to business stakeholders.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the talents of more junior engineers.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

Job responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineering managers, other architects, product owners to architect technology solutions to meet the business and technology vision.
  • Partner with functional leadership to help build the core competencies of the team members.
  • Understand complex problems and come up with simple, practical, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Suggest one or more(approaches) technical solutions with POC’s (if required) to meet business requirements efficiently with greater reusability and long-term vision.
  • Able to understand micro service architecture and explore opportunities to refine and optimize the current architecture for the better efficiency, performance, productivity and maintainability.
  • Define, communicate and enforce design/coding standards. Facilitate technical design reviews, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, and consistency across organizational and design boundaries.
  • Collaborate with developers; provide technical guidance, review deliverables for accuracy, AWS cost efficiency, quality, application performance, and completeness
  • Be hands-on, picking complex item from the sprint board and working as individual contributor.
  • Work and collaborate with a talented team in a highly agile Scrum environment.
  • Keep Quality, Patient Safety, and Privacy a top priority.
    Keep abreast of new technologies and use them to solve the business problems effectively.
  • Embrace opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge; Evangelize new tools, methodologies, and technologies within the Product Development teams.
  • Should be flexible enough to get into meetings with US teams/work on production issues when required. Also, should be available and help teams as required.
  • Should be smart about choosing between fast and right.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an architect in building complex, highly scalable, high volume, low latency, secured applications.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as Full stack developer.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript based frameworks and template engines like Angular/ AngularJS as primary skill, ExpressJS, NodeJS and other related JavaScript libraries.
  • Experience with building enterprise application using RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch, Java, Docker, AWS.
  • Experience in developing and designing applications using Service Oriented, Microservice and RESTful architecture.
  • Experience/Familiarity with RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies like Postgresql, MongoDB.
  • Good knowledge on DevOps tools and cloud based technologies.
  • Strong aptitude for writing efficient, extensible and readable code.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in conducting POCs using emerging technologies.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people with a variety of skills, disciplines, experience, and personalities.
