About Glean

We’re on a mission to bring people the knowledge they need to make a difference in the world.

Glean was founded by a seasoned team of former Google search and Facebook engineers, who wondered why we don’t have an easier way of finding what we need at work. In our personal lives, we have tools to help us find pretty much whatever we need. Why don’t we have that at work? And that was the beginning of Glean.

Glean searches across all your company’s apps to help you find exactly what you need and discover the things you should know. We’re a diverse team of curious and creative people who want to help each other get big things done—so we can help other teams do the same.

We're backed by some of the Valley's leading venture capitalists—including Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed, and General Catalyst—and have assembled a world-class team with senior leadership experience at Google, Slack, Facebook, Dropbox, Rubrik, Uber, Intercom, Pinterest, Palantir, and others.

The Accounting Lead will oversee critical accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP), Travel & Expense (T&E) management, and routine General Ledger (GL) operations such as cash flow management, accruals, and prepaid expenses. This position ensures accuracy, compliance with corporate policies, and financial integrity within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting processes, be highly organized, and exhibit strong attention to detail.

  • Travel & Expense (T&E):
    • Review and approve employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company travel policies.
    • Maintain the T&E system, ensure appropriate documentation, and handle any exceptions or issues.
    • Analyze T&E data to provide insights into spending trends and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to improve expense tracking and reporting mechanisms.
  • General Ledger (GL) Operations:
    • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close activities related to cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other routine GL captions.
    • Review and prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and reports as needed.
    • Manage and reconcile the cash flow, ensuring all entries are appropriately recorded and balanced.
    • Monitor accruals and prepaid expenses to ensure proper allocation of costs.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    • Prepare and review financial reports related to AP, T&E, and GL for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and responses to audit queries.
    • Ensure adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, ensuring practical knowledge transfer.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and human resources, to drive accounting initiatives.
    • Lead or participate in process improvement projects to enhance financial operations and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on AP, T&E, and GL management.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Bill.com) and advanced Excel skills.
