About the Role:
As a member of Abacus Platform Product Management team, you will play a pivotal role in bringing to market a cutting-edge cloud data platform with industry leading data usability capabilities for Healthcare Payors. Our solutions enable clients to turn vast and diverse data into insights that drive improved outcomes and enable a wide range of internal and compliance workflows. As a Product Owner, you will work directly with a Platform Engineering team with focus on MDM and EMPI solutions, healthcare interoperability message processing, and general platform enhancements. This role demands a strong foundation in software development and data engineering to effectively translate high-level product visions and customer needs into precise requirements. At Abacus, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside engineering and stakeholders across the organization, prioritizing your backlog to align with Objectives and Key Results (OKR) and immediate customer needs. You Will:
· Lead the development and integration of MDM and EMPI solutions, ensuring accurate, consistent patient data across healthcare systems.
· Enhance and expand Abacus Platform capabilities in healthcare interoperability (FHIR, X12, HL7 V2) for versatile data integration and patient care.
· Drive cloud-native enhancements to align Abacus with customers’ cloud journeys.
· Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders and the development team, translating strategic goals into product features and crafting effective Epics and User Stories.
· Own the complete lifecycle of your products and features, from ideation to launch.
· Maintain a transparent, prioritized backlog to ensure efficient development.
· Champion Agile practices to support SDLC, providing guidance and insights to the development team.
· Collaborate with product peers to evaluate value delivery, identifying improvement areas.
· Communicate updates and insights to leadership and broader audiences.
· Ensure the development team accurately estimates task complexity and effort.
· Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to align developments with customer needs.
· Coordinate product development with client deployment for seamless implementation.
· Work with client management to optimize product impact.
What we're looking for:
· Passion for Product Ownership and Healthcare IT, with:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for translating business needs into Epics and User Stories.
- Experience in release coordination and acceptance testing.
- Hands-on Agile product ownership with proven results.
· Expertise in MDM and EMPI solutions.
· Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 V2, FHIR, X12).
· Experience shipping SaaS products.
· Understanding of data platform R&D and comfort in technical environments.
· Tactical and strategic thinking skills to inspire and lead.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
· A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant PO experience.
· BS or MS in Computer Science, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
Bonus Points:
· Experience in the US Healthcare Payor or Provider industry.
· Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
· Proficiency in database concepts/tools (preferably Databricks, Snowflake).
· Experience with big data, ETL, data pipelines, security, privacy, DevOps, or automation.
