Our Mission  SPAN is enabling electrification for all ⚡

We are a mission-driven company designing, building, and deploying products that electrify the built environment, reduce carbon emissions, and slow the effects of climate change.
  • Decarbonization is the process to reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, from entering our atmosphere.

  • Electrification is the process of replacing fossil fuel appliances that run on gas or oil with all-electric upgrades for a cleaner way to power our lives.

At SPAN, we believe in:
  • Enabling homes and vehicles powered by clean energy

  • Making electrification upgrades possible

  • Building more resilient homes with reliable backup

  • Designing a flexible and distributed electrical grid

The Role

SPAN.IO is expanding its engineering footprint in Bangalore to support global product development, hardware/software innovation, and scaling of our smart energy solutions. As Program Manager – Engineering (Bangalore), you will take full ownership of all engineering programs, activities, resources, and budgeting executed from the Bangalore site. This is a pivotal role in driving end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional programs in a fast-paced, high-growth environment focused on clean energy technology.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, hardware, firmware, and operations teams in Bangalore, while aligning with global stakeholders—particularly the Head of Program Management in San Francisco—to ensure programs deliver on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and lead all engineering programs and initiatives run from the Bangalore site, including new product introductions (NPI), feature development, sustaining engineering, cost optimization, and scalability projects related to smart electrical panels, energy management systems, IoT integrations, and related hardware/software.

• Develop and manage detailed program plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.

• Oversee resource allocation, team capacity planning, and cross-functional coordination (engineering, design, quality, supply chain, etc.) to ensure efficient execution.

• Manage program budgets, track financials, forecast spend, and ensure cost control while delivering business value.

• Drive end-to-end program execution from initiation through launch and post-launch support, ensuring successful delivery of program objectives.

• Facilitate daily/weekly program syncs, status reporting, and executive reviews; prepare clear, data-driven updates for leadership.

• Identify and resolve blockers proactively, escalating issues when necessary and collaborating across time zones with the San Francisco HQ team.

• Implement and utilize global program management tools and best practices (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana, MS Project, or similar) to maintain transparency and traceability.

• Foster strong communication and alignment between Bangalore engineering teams and global functions.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of program management processes within the Bangalore site and across the organization.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or related field)

• 5–10 years of experience in program/project management, with an overall experience of 12 to 15 years preferably in hardware/software product development environments.

• Proven track record of successfully leading complex, end-to-end engineering programs from concept to production/launch, ideally in domains such as consumer electronics, IoT/smart home devices, renewable energy systems, EV charging infrastructure, energy storage, or similar high-tech hardware products.

• Strong technical acumen ("tech savvy")—ability to understand and discuss engineering concepts, trade-offs, and technical roadmaps with deep domain teams.

• Hands-on experience with modern global program management tools and methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall hybrid, OKRs, etc.).

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English, with the ability to influence stakeholders, present to senior leadership, and bridge cross-functional and cross-geographical teams.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving startup environment.

• Experience managing budgets, resources, and schedules for mid-to-large scale programs.

• Ability to work effectively across time zones with the San Francisco-based leadership team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in clean energy, smart grid, home electrification, battery storage, solar integration, or EV-related technologies.

• PMP, PgMP, or similar certification.

• Familiarity with hardware development lifecycles (from design to manufacturing) and regulatory/compliance aspects in energy products.

What We Offer

• Opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that accelerates the global transition to renewable energy and smarter homes.

• Collaborative culture with a mission-driven team passionate about sustainability.

• Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities in a high-growth company.

SPAN.IO is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
