Role: QA Test Engineer

Location: Bangalore - India 

Job Description 

We are seeking an experienced QA Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both manual and automation testing, with expertise in Selenium. The role involves ensuring high-quality software delivery through meticulous test planning, test case design, and automation. As a QA Test Engineer, you will collaborate closely with development teams to identify testing needs and improve testing efficiency.

This role is not limited to geographical boundaries or specific business teams and is part of a centre of excellence for digital tools and technologies that supports the larger business. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Manual Testing Skills
    • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
    • Proficient in creating, executing, and managing test cases and test scenarios.
    • Proficient in managing defect life cycle.
  • Automation Testing Skills
    • 3+ years of experience in automation testing with Selenium WebDriver.
    • Familiarity with automation frameworks (e.g., TestNG, JUnit) and script development.
    • Knowledge of scripting languages (Java, Python, or JavaScript) and ability to write reusable test scripts.
  • Tools and Technologies
    • Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM).
    • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) is a plus.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
    • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
    • Attention to detail with the ability to identify edge cases and potential issues proactively.
  • Preferred Skills
    • Knowledge of API testing (e.g., Postman, Rest Assured).
    • Experience in performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter).
    • Knowledge on accessibility testing.

Essential experience 

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet all the criteria listed below 

  • Hands-on experience testing through the development cycle and pre-release in an Agile framework 
  • Experience conducting root-cause analysis 
  • Experience in bug / defect log maintenance 
  • Testing process knowledge and ability to communicate with the development teams to provide constructive feedback and improvement tips. 
  • Previous web application testing experience knowledge. 
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance 
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes 
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases. 
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools 
  • Solid knowledge on tools like, Jira, Confluence 
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting 
  • Cross browser and multi device testing experience 
  • Experience and understanding of XML and other web technology standards 
  • Experience testing for the cloud environments like AWS and Azure. 
  • Solid knowledge on BDD framework and Gherkin language
  • Experience in Selenium WebDriver.
  • Hands-on experience on ERP systems.

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, AWS and Java will be a plus. 
  • Experience working with a test automation suite like Jmeter and Lighthouse will be preferred. 
  • Experience with large enterprise applications and e-Commerce stores will be given preference. 
  • Understanding and implementation knowledge of ecommerce and order management will be added advantage. 
  • Experience testing mobile applications  

Ideal candidate 

  • Someone with a keen eye for detail, a penchant for quality and a passion for process.   
  • Strong advocate for the value position of Quality Assurance and thorough testing. 
  • Graduate / post-graduate in computer science / technology or equivalent degree/experience 
  • Having excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal in English 
  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of application testing experience on Ecommerce / Web application platforms. 
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience on automation using Selenium Webdriver using Java.
  • Ability to work individually or within a team environment 
  • Willing to work in UK / US shift on need basis 
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects / tasks and priorities in a healthy work environment 
  • Uses a constructive approach when providing feedback 
  • Ability to take direction, constructive criticism and work to specified deadlines. 
  • Adhere to process and procedures defined for the role, the team and the organization. 
  • Certified on one or more of the core process areas of work. 

Reporting structure 

  • Locally reporting to QA team lead and IT manager in India 
  • Matrix reporting to WTL in US
