What You’ll Do:

• Innovate for High-Value Customers: Architect, refine, and optimize sophisticated AI- powered data applications that deliver actionable insights directly to our highest-revenue, high-value customers in Japan.
• Lead with a Customer Focus: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address critical customer-driven requirements, setting new benchmarks for excellence - with the potential to evolve into a Squad Lead role.
• Excel in Delivering Customer Value: Tackle advanced challenges in data analytics, audience measurement, and digital media by applying AI models, automated pipelines, and intelligent analytics. Enable faster, smarter business decisions that elevate the experience of our premium clientele.

What We’re Looking For:

• Technical Proficiency: Extensive production experience in Java (or Scala) and Python, with a demonstrated track record of architecting and managing complex, large-scale systems - increasingly leveraging AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery and reduce complexity.
• Systems Design: Proven ability to design and deliver sophisticated systems encompassing multiple workflows, robust database layers, secure authentication mechanisms, and efficient data buffering - integrated seamlessly into cohesive, production-ready solutions.
• Containerisation & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container management, and proficiency with Apache Airflow or a comparable workflow orchestration platform.
• Media & Advertising Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in audience measurement, media, or the advertising ecosystem is highly preferred. Familiarity with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) or Data Management Platforms (DMPs) is a strong advantage.
• Data Modelling & Database Expertise: Strong proficiency in schema design, data modelling, and SQL. Practical experience with document-based databases or search technologies such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB is essential.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a significant advantage.
• Data Applications: Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and enhance complex data-driven applications at scale.
• Quality & Observability: A strong commitment to code quality, system reliability, and observability best practices across the full development lifecycle.
• AI-Enabled Development & Engineering Culture: Deep comfort working with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex, including vibe coding and agentic workflows. Personal project or experience in orchestrating, managing, and scaling AI coding agents to automate development tasks (e.g., code generation, refactoring, testing, debugging).
• Actively drives an AI-forward engineering culture - introducing best practices, defining human-in-the-loop patterns, improving developer productivity, and rethinking how software is built through AI-native workflows and automation.
