We are seeking a Director of DevOps Engineering to be part of our dynamic IT Infrastructure and Operations team at FA.

What You'll Do 
As the Director of DevOps Engineering at FADV, your primary responsibility is to lead and support your team, ensuring they grow as engineers, deliver valuable work, and find career satisfaction. Your technical leadership and solid background in software development will enable you to challenge and grow your team members. You will influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work with your team on direction and execution. You will design containerization and implement/migrate large and complex applications on Public Cloud, playing a critical role in advancing FADV towards predictive pipelines and an SRE-based model.
Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Ensure industry best practices in Infrastructure Architecture, Continuous Delivery and Integration, Deployment, Security, 3rd-level Support, and Test Automation.
  • Take ownership of all infrastructure and development operations, ensuring work meets user and commercial objectives, is delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Create roadmaps, identify delivery milestones, and determine capacity and cost requirements.
  • Strategize, design, and implement highly efficient solutions on Azure Public Cloud for security, resilience, performance, networking, availability, and blue-green deployments.
  • Enhance the System Development Life Cycle methodology and associated cross-functional tools to ensure adoption and continuous improvements.
  • Stay updated on the global state of commercial cloud and open-source operations.
  • Prioritize efforts to enhance complex software-defined infrastructure.
  • Ensure processes and training are in place for continuous service improvement.
  • Develop and evangelize excellent engineering and organizational practices.

Team and Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead and develop teams of engineers across time zones.
  • Advocate for modern, agile software development practices.
  • Handle hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the organization as part of the leadership team.
  • Coordinate with management and external stakeholders or customers.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering and operational teams.

What You May Need to be Successful:

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field.
  • A total to 15+ years of experience with a relevant of 7+ years in people management (preferably in mid-sized & established organizations. Startup experience will be an added advantage for this role)
  • Advanced skills in Terraform and Python.
  • Experience running production operations as SAAS or IT with critical uptime requirements.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.
  • Proven leadership ability and a high standard of operational excellence.
  • Passion for developing and growing people, with a demonstrable track record.
  • Deep knowledge and passion for software development.
  • Clarity on the drivers of quality in software engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Thorough understanding of modern infrastructure, including Kubernetes or Bicep.
  • Good knowledge of Azure cloud computing concepts and technology.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
  • Hands-on experience with software automation.
  • Fluency and comfort with cloud terminology.
