We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Database Administrator with extensive experience in SQL server and Azure to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that meet our business needs. You will work closely with other IT professionals, developers, and end-users to ensure that database systems are performing optimally and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases in production, test, and development environments.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures to enhance database performance.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Implement and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, log shipping, and replication strategies.
- Backup & Recovery: Ensure robust database backup strategies, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices, including access control, encryption, and audit compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Use monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve database performance and integrity issues.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell and T-SQL scripts for automation of database tasks.
Performance tuning experience is must. - Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth and plan for storage and infrastructure scaling.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to ensure database efficiency and reliability.
Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation for database architecture, processes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Expertise in SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 and Azure SQL Database.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server internals, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups, Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping.
- Proficiency in T-SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
- Familiarity with cloud-based solutions (Azure SQL, AWS)
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, Redgate, SolarWinds DPA, or SentryOne.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
