Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Senior Engineering Manager who will manage engineering teams, working in control plane team of "Zscaler Internet Access" (ZIA) product. This is an excellent opportunity to help and lead a fast-growing engineering team of a massively scalable product that has redefined how security services are delivered in the cloud. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Application Engineering and the role will be hybrid based in the Bangalore office. You will be responsible for:

• Managing a rapidly growing software engineering team of strong individual contributors.
• Manage daily direction of the development team.
• Ensure that all programmes are delivered with agreed-upon business value, on time, and highest quality.
• Create quality process and computing initiatives throughout the product lifecycle to eliminate architecture, design, and coding defects at the source.
• Ensuring performance, security, scale, reliability, operational and cost optimization criteria are met.
• Communicate technical solutions to all levels within-group and cross-discipline. status reporting and presenting solutions is an important part of the job.
• Ensure that you maximise the productivity of your team, especially by predicting and resolving obstacles and dependencies before they're needed.
• Set up an engineering strategy for the team on technical front.
• Contributing to talent hiring, people skill development, setting goals for the team.
• Responsible for weekly status reporting, stakeholder engagements and project updates.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• 12 to 15 years of overall experience and 5+ years of managing a team of engineers working in in security, cloud or networking domains.
• Software development experience in large-scale commercial networking or security systems.
• Experience managing large-scale highly available distributed systems in C language.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and services - DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS.
• Experience working collaborative with teams like QA, Product Management, and Support.
• BS degree (Engineering/Computer Science).

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience with FreeBSD-based networking solutions.
• To motivate team members on technical discussions including architectural and design guidelines, code reviews and release process.
• Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners with all levels of the organisation, both orally and written.
• Experience with design / architectural patterns and automation platforms.
• Good on Estimation Practices: Effort and Schedule.
• Experience in Development processes and QA processes like designing test plans, functional testing, end-to-end scenario automation, performance and security testing.
