The Senior Network Engineer will lead the design and transformation of Cargill's network infrastructure from legacy systems to modern software-defined networks. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and engaging in projects to optimize the network, emphasizing automation and infrastructure as code practices.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Network Engineer will design transformation, deployment, automation, operation, and own Cargill's software defined network infrastructure with an initial focus on migration of legacy networking infrastructure to modern software defined networking infrastructure. In this role you will provide thought leadership and actively engage in a network transformation project to migrate legacy physical networking infrastructure to Modern software defined networking infrastructure to architect, build, secure, and maintain.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide technical leadership and influence the use of software development and infrastructure as code practices to design, build and support software defined network capabilities.
- Provide expert leadership across network teams to resolve complex problems and remove roadblocks.
- Participate in the engineering community by being a coach and mentor to engineers, share new technical trends and develop modern skills and engineering best practices across Cargill.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of Networking (Routing, Switching and SD WAN) having good understanding of Software Defined Networks. The person should have experience on Versa & Cisco products with ability to design, implement and troubleshooting skills.
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Expert level knowledge on WAN technologies and protocols, not limited to BGP, OSPF, QoS, CoS, ACLs, NAT/CGNAT, MPLS, VPNs & IPSec.
- Experience across various areas of network, including switching, routing, software and traditional WAN, firewall, load-balancing, networking protocols, DNS, DHCP, network observability.
- implementations. CCIE SP or Enterprise certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting of network configurations with know-how of python, bash, docker is preferred. Working experience in source code management tools like GitHub.
- Network automation experience using Python.
- Experience working with agile teams, leveraging modern engineering tools and practices to manage team backlog, planned work, and issue tracking
- Worked in a large scale, multi-national company, with a distributed Information Technology team.
