About the Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior CBTC Signalling Design Engineer to join our team. This is a key role within the rail systems design and engineering team, responsible for the planning, design, integration, and implementation of cutting-edge CBTC solutions for urban transit and railway systems. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of railway signaling systems, CBTC technologies, and a strong background in system engineering and design.
Key Accountabilities:
Design and Engineering:
In charge of the design and development of CBTC systems for urban and regional rail projects, including train control, communications, and signaling technologies.
System Integration:
Ensure seamless integration of CBTC subsystems with existing rail infrastructure, addressing interoperability, performance, and safety requirements.
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring the correct application of CBTC design principles, industry standards, and best practices.
Requirements Analysis:
Work with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze system requirements, ensuring designs meet both functional and safety needs.
Design Reviews:
Conduct design and safety reviews, including FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), hazard analysis, and risk assessments to ensure the safety and reliability of CBTC systems.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure compliance with relevant railway signaling standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, CENELEC) and regulatory requirements throughout the design and implementation phases.
Project Documentation:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and reports, to support project delivery and certification.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and methodologies, ensuring efficiency, innovation, and quality in the engineering function.
Key Experience Preferred: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in CBTC system design and engineering, including hands-on experience with train control, signaling, and communications systems. Experience in a senior or lead design engineer role is preferred.
Education/Qualifications Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of CBTC systems, train control principles, and communication protocols (e.g., wireless communications, Ethernet, TCP/IP).
Design Tools & Software:
Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, and other relevant software for system modeling, simulation, and design.
Standards Knowledge:**
Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and safety regulations for signaling systems, such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, and ISO 9001.
Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to address and resolve complex engineering issues.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and write clear documentation.
Desirable Skills:
Certification:
Professional engineering certification is a plus.
Language Skills:
Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial for international projects.
Rail Industry Experience:
Prior experience working on large-scale rail projects, including high-speed rail or urban transit systems, is highly desirable.
Leadership:
Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
