As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for the system to work behind the scenes. Your role will be to integrate the application with all required systems and services and provide clean and easy to use API for the frontend part of the system. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective software solutions with an emphasis on quality, best-practice coding standards, and cost-effectiveness 
  • Build rapid technical prototypes for early validation of new technologies
  • Rapidly identify and resolve technical incidents as they emerge
  • Collaborate effectively with other application teams to help building the right offerings for our client delivery platform
  • Collaborate with product owners and tech leads to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, providing leadership in the design and architecture processes.
  • Own strategic technology relationships cross-functional teams across Nielsen. 
  • Provide expert apprenticeship to project teams on technology strategy, cultivating advanced skill sets in application engineering and implementing modern software engineering practices
  • Lead and mentor a team of Software Developers and Senior Software Developers, providing guidance and support in their professional development
  • Stay informed about the latest technology and methodology
  • Cultivate a team environment focused on continuous learning, where innovative technologies are developed and refined through collaborative effort

Key Skills

  • Domain Expertise
  • 3-8 years of experience as a lead / senior developer in agile teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering, with a preference for an MS or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or Statistics
  • Proven experience in leading and managing software development teams.
  • Expertise in data processing tools/languages and strong cloud implementation in cloud architecture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of storage, network, compute services, and multi-zone, region-based designs.

  • Technical Skills
  • Expertise in Java/SpringBoot for scalable and maintainable server-side development with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience in React/Typescript or Javascript and front-end technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux OS, shell scripting, Python, JSON, YAML.
  • Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Amazon RDS including schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and data modeling best practices
  • Expertise in RESTful API design principles and best practices for building robust and scalable web APIs.
  • Expertise with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EC2, RDS, and ECS for cloud-based application development and deployment
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available microservices architectures using containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Expertise with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment strategies for robust, high-quality delivery of software applications.
  • Experience in software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum for iterative and collaborative project delivery.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) for code management, collaboration, and versioning.
  • Knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
  • Understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and architectural concepts like SOLID, DRY, KISS, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
  • Experience of DevOps practices, infrastructure as code (IaC), and configuration management tools like Terraform, Helm for automating infrastructure provisioning and management
