US Omni Tech : This is the team that ensures our customers receive their orders as fast as they want and where they want, in a friction-less, predictable way. Build reusable SaaS products and services that manage our catalogue and power end-to-end inventory management, ranging from replenishment and fulfilment to transportation. With end-to-end inventory management, ranging from replenishment and fulfilment to transportation, they provide our drivers and partners with the tools they need to get the right items, on time, in the right packaging to customers.

Enterprise Returns is one of the core & foundational divisions in Walmart Labs that aims at enabling the return of any item on any channel and ensure customers are refunded swiftly while maximizing return value for Walmart and our partners. This division is responsible for developing very large scale real-time, omni-channel, configurable and extensible platforms which enables us to expose “Returns as a Service”.

What you will do:

As a Senior Data Engineer, Analyze complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models. Develop the Logical Data Model and Physical Data Models including data warehouse and data mart designs. Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. Develop efficient data flows. Analyzes data-related system integration challenges and proposes appropriate solutions. Write code to develop the required solution and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and leveraging business, technical, and data requirements. Support the understanding of the priority order of requirements and service level agreements. Perform initial data quality checks on extracted data. Define relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures to create a data model structure. Create test cases to review and validate the proposed solution design. Create proofs of concept. Deploy software to production servers. Create training documentation and trains end-users on data modeling. Help identify the most suitable source for data that is fit for purpose. Oversee the tasks of less experienced programmers and stipulates system troubleshooting supports. Contribute code documentation, maintains playbooks, and provides timely progress updates.

Establishes modify, and document data governance projects and recommendations. Implement data governance practices in partnership with business stakeholders and peers. Interpret company and regulatory policies on data. Educate others on data governance processes, practices, policies, and guidelines. Provide recommendations on needed updates or inputs into data governance policies, practices, or guidelines.

Required Tools: Python/Java, SQL, Spark, Scala, Hadoop, HIVE, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

What you'll bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 6+ years of experience in software engineering or related field or Master's degree in Computer Science and 4 years’ experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.

Experience in Spark and Distributed computing frameworks.

Professional hand-on experience in scala/python.

Professional hand-on experience in Sql and Query Optimization.

Experience in programming design patterns.

Experience in system design.

Should have Experience with CI/CD tool like Jenkins etc.

Should have Experience with Orchestration tools like Airflow/ Automic etc.

Should have hand-on experience in Data processing and Data manipulation skills like Data warehousing concepts, SCD types etc.

Atleast one cloud exposure (GCP is preferred).

Exposure to Streaming data use-cases via kafka or structured streaming etc.

Experience collaborating with multiple teams. 

Experience in Big Data applications 

Follows the industry trends in the online world.

Good knowledge of High-performance Stream processing, Large Scale Messaging Systems

Exposure to multi-hop Architecture would be added advantage.

Mandatory Skills: Spark, Scala/Python, Sql, GCP, Airflow
