Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider based in Mountain View, CA, offering a service that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites. Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides an anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.
This role is located at Bangalore,India where we are onsite at least 3 days a week in the office.
Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo
Skylo is hiring a Senior Staff Cloud Architect to help fulfill Skylo’s mission of making satellite connectivity available to all. This individual will be designing, implementing and optimizing Skylo’s cloud-based solutions especially in the GCP area to enable Skylo to provide better solutions to its customers.
How You Will Contribute
- Design and implement robust cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and execute cloud strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.Analyze current cloud usage and identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce costs, and enhance resource utilization.
- Establish and maintain security protocols for GCP resources, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Implement cost optimization strategies, including monitoring, rightsizing, and identifying underutilized resources.
- Work with development, operations, and business teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of cloud services.
- Simplify and streamline Identity and Access Management policies, ensuring appropriate access control.
- Optimize API management workflows and costs using Apigee or alternative platforms.
- Stay up to date with cloud technology advancements and provide recommendations to enhance the organization’s cloud capabilities.
- Design and implement robust disaster recovery and backup strategies.
- Stay up to date with GCP advancements and implement best practices for cloud operations.
What We Look For
- 10+ years of total experience in Cloud Architecture with 5+ years in GCP.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent.
- Expertise in GCP services like Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
- Hands-on experience with cost management and optimization tools like GCP Pricing Calculator and Billing Reports.
- Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid knowledge of API management and tools like Apigee.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and serverless computing.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell is preferred.
