Senior Systems Engineer II

About our Team:
To help support our growing operational maturity, we are seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Systems Engineer to work on our Core Engineering team with a focus on CICD enablement
About the Role:
This role will act as a hybrid role working both with software engineers, application management and system engineers to help optimize our software delivery using best of breed tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Antifactory, SonarQube, New Relic, Kubernetes, Argo CD and Amazon Web Services.
Responsibilities: -
-
Engage with the engineering community within Elsevier to drive adoption, standardization and maturity of modern software development practices
-
Supporting and communicating with engineers of all abilities to resolve technical issues with their CICD pipelines
-
Work on high quality, reusable solutions to support engineering and CICD pipelines via reusable modules, libraries, templates and standard practices
-
Automate administrative and repetitive tasks in development tooling such as GitHub and Antifactory to improve the user experience

Identify gaps in processes and create high quality automated solutions for them

Continuous improvement and learning
Requirements: -

Advanced knowledge of DevOps best practices and processes
-
Curiosity and a willingness to learn

Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Extensive experience of:
-
Version control with Git
-
Using the GitHub platform
-
One or more of the following CICD platforms: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD
-
Building and deployment of Software applications: Java, Docker, etc.

Scripting and automating with Python, JavaScript, etc.
-
Experience of one or more of the following:
-
Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, etc.

Binary/Artifact Management: Antifactory, GitHub packages, etc.

Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Cloud formation, etc.
-
Container Orchestration: Kubernetes
-
JIRA, Confluence or similar
-
5+ years of Systems Engineering experience
-
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
