Job Description

Job Summary:
You understand the importance of making cohesive design decisions. You consistently show what good design is at Tesco. You advocate for consistent design experiences. You can tell a compelling story when presenting that experience. This is the point of your career where you will create you most brilliant work: designs that can spark emotion; empathy; and delight; while still solving for real business needs. At this point you require close to zero oversight from a craft perspective; and your manager can start acting more of a coach or mentor.
In this job; I'm accountable for:
Ensure tireless focus on human centered design that always meet our user needs that serve our users a little better every day Be the voice of user experience for people in other disciplines who don’t have as much of an appreciation for the user's needs Be accountable for designs and documentation working to established design rules; patterns; systems; style guides; interaction; accessibility standards & branding guidelines Outline team goals; objectives; expectations for the project & help plan tasks Breakdown briefs and communicate requirements to teams Proactively share and communicate design expertise and knowledge with your peers and teams to improve organisational capability Collaborate with all design & delivery disciplines to create & improve user interfaces & designs that are in-line with our design principles Demonstrate strong written; verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation. Liaise with technology and understand the scope of components in existing component libraries; determine fit for purpose and influence stakeholders for improvement. Critique & challenge product roadmaps and upward communication of potential initiatives and opportunities Effectively coordinate; facilitate and lead ceremonies; peer/design reviews and workshops with all design & research teams; business owners and stakeholders Be an advocate for correct use of and contribution to our design system Sign off design deliverables before delivery to engineering Work in partnership with Product Managers; Researchers and Engineering to align design vision and activities with our business goals Continuously seek to improve research; design; and development processes to gain efficiency; remove obstacles; and simplify workflows Provide support & mentorship for junior team members; help to define objectives and help manage professional & personal development Actively engaging and participating in research activities. Making key decisions based on research and understand how this research impacts others Lead by example; demonstrating Tesco values; provide guidance and mentoring to help the team focus on our mission; achieve their best and strive for excellence
