Primary Responsibilities:
- Translates product, business and technical requirements into rich engaging member experiences
- Partners with senior and principal designers to build design artifacts and corresponding documentation that the development team consumes
- Designs with mobile first in mind and with an eye towards accessibility
- If working on the final user interface, defines final layout, font, colors, padding and spacing rules that align with the Optum brand. Sources images, icons and videos needed to design and complete the work
- Regularly shares work and accepts design feedback, refining designs based on feedback received
- Demonstrates a clear grasp of best practices and has a solid desire to stay up to date on research trends
- Effectively communicates design solutions and explains why design decisions were made
- Partners with other designers, product teams, developers, research and copywriters to iterate on designs based on user feedback and technical constraints
- Partners with research team to prep and build prototypes for user testing
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of user experience or user interface design with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing digital experiences across web and mobile platforms, showcasing a range of user experience and user interface design projects, demonstrating creativity, problem solving and attention to detail
- Experience using research and analytics data to inform design decisions
- Working knowledge of user-centered design principles, information architecture and usability best practices
- Working knowledge of Figma and how to create clickable prototypes to demo your work
- Working knowledge of the design process, pattern library and design documentation Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and best practices
- Proven excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proven solid attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences
- Proven ability to ideate and provide multiple solutions
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience building FinTech or ecommerce experiences
