The Site Reliability Engineer supports developers on the Analytics Platform systems and tools including the underlying AWS cloud infrastructure that is primarily US based but expanding globally. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in a technical field such as computer science coupled with a familiarity with systems and site reliability engineering practices and concepts. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a desire for continual learning and excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop systems, tools and practices that enhance platform reliability and availability
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and cloud infrastructure
  • Monitor and test systems for potential problems and identify solutions
  • Maintain security compliance for all available systems and backup
  • Help design informational and operation support systems and tools
  • Solve technical problems efficiently
  • Identify, solve and manage platform and project risks
  • Support Platform developers by providing technical guidance to investigate issues, identify sustainable, optimized solutions
  • Communication with end users to receive/work issues, impact due to outages and/or upgrades
  • Work directly with Software vendors on issue resolution, etc
  • Effectively document, knowledge sharing and assist in building skills for team members and individuals with whom the team supports

Key Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • 3-5 years experience using common scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Shell)
  • 3-5 years experience with AWS services (e.g. AWS Lambda, Eventbridge, EC2, Aurora)
  • 3-5 years experience with Windows, Linux operating systems
  • 3-5 years experience with SQL and No-SQL technologies, e.g. MongoDB
  • 3-5 years experience with infrastructure as a service tools, e.g. Terraform
  • 2-3 years experience with Alteryx Designer and Server platforms
  • Well-organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Able to work effectively across several different functional areas in a collaborative environment
  • Desired: experience with visualization and reporting tools, e.g. Tableau, Google Sheets, Spotfire, PowerBI
  • Preferred: experience with Jira, Git, Confluence, Smartsheets
  • Preferred: project management experience
