The role also involves code reviews, automated testing, observability, mobile security, CI/CD, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Asset and Wealth Management Technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will be a core technical contributor across multiple business functions, with native Android/IOS skills.
Job responsibilities
- Design, build, and troubleshoot native mobile solutions beyond routine approaches.
- Deliver end-to-end features for Android apps and supporting services, contribute to iOS features and maintenance as needed.
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
- Apply strong engineering practices (domain modeling, clean structure, testability, evolution).
- Write secure, high-quality production code; review and debug others’ code and build and maintain robust Android architecture (e.g., Clean Architecture, MVVM/MVI) focused on performance and reliability.
- Build reusable UI components/design systems; modernize legacy code where needed and integrate with back-end systems via RESTful APIs/JSON, partner with platform/API teams on scalability and security.
- Improve operational stability by eliminating recurring issues and automating remediation.
- Own production health: investigate crashes/ANRs/perf/auth issues and prevent recurrence and keep platforms current (OS/dependency upgrades, security patches) and support safe, low-downtime releases.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Software development experience (design, build, test, and production support), including significant native Android work.
- Experience in Kotlin, Android SDK, Gradle (including multi-module), Coroutines/Flow, Jetpack (e.g., ViewModel/Lifecycle/Navigation/Paging), Compose (Material 3) and XML Views, DI/networking (e.g., Hilt, Retrofit/OkHttp), performance and crash/ANR analysis.
- Working knowledge of Swift, Xcode, SwiftUI/UIKit; ability to deliver fixes/features and participate in code reviews while keeping cross-platform behavior consistent.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
- Experience with distributed systems and mobile networking patterns (REST/JSON).
- Strong understanding of mobile data persistence/caching/offline patterns; familiarity with SQL/NoSQL through service layers.
- Strong fundamentals in mobile security, secure storage (Keystore/Keychain), encryption in transit, certificate pinning, biometrics/modern auth, minimizing sensitive-data exposure.
- Experience in logging, monitoring, analytics, crash reporting, performance analysis with observability/production readiness
- Experience in CI/CD and automated testing (e.g., JUnit/Espresso/Compose UI; XCTest) with Agile/Scrum experience and strong SDLC discipline.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Regulated-domain experience (banking/financial services) and security-sensitive mobile products.
- Stronger iOS depth (Combine, Swift Concurrency, SPM, Instruments).
- Passkeys/FIDO, mobile app hardening/runtime protection.
- Modern release practices (feature flags, staged rollouts; Play Store/App Store processes).
