Solution Architect

Summary of Position:

As a Software Solution Architect, you will be a core technical member of Digital Health Foundational Services Engineering team to lead architecture, design, develop & deliver software for Digital Health products. Solution Architect will be responsible for Software application architecture, API design, cloud architecture, and full-stack development with a specific focus on the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern architectural patterns, cloud platforms (especially AWS), and hands-on experience with designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions. As a Software Solution Architect, you will lead the design and development of complex software solutions, providing technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architecture Design: Lead the design of scalable, secure, and compliant software architectures that meet healthcare industry requirements. Define architectural blueprints and best practices for cloud-native applications, microservices, and APIs.
• API Design and Development: Design, implement, and manage RESTful and GraphQL APIs, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and compliant with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR). Establish API best practices and standards for the development team.
• Cloud Architecture (AWS): Architect, implement, and manage cloud solutions on AWS, leveraging services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, and more, with a focus on healthcare applications. Ensure optimal performance, cost efficiency, and security in cloud deployments.
• Full-Stack Development: Provide full-stack development expertise, guiding teams on best practices in front-end (React, Angular) and back-end (Node.js, Java, Python) technologies within the healthcare domain.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure that all solutions adhere to healthcare security standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and compliance requirements. Implement robust security measures, including encryption, identity management, and access control, tailored to healthcare data.
• Technical Leadership: Act as a technical leader and mentor for development teams, guiding them through complex technical challenges, Technical Architecture/Design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decisions, with a focus on healthcare solutions.
• Solution Delivery: Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate healthcare business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize the performance of existing healthcare solutions, ensuring they meet the necessary scalability, reliability, performance and compliance requirements.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends, tools, and frameworks relevant to healthcare. Propose and implement improvements to processes, tools, and software architecture.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including technical specifications, diagrams, and best practice guidelines, with a focus on healthcare industry standards.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience: 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in an architectural role, specifically within the healthcare industry.
• API Expertise: Extensive experience in designing, developing, and managing RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with knowledge of healthcare standards like HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.
• Cloud Expertise (AWS): In-depth experience with AWS cloud architecture, including hands-on experience with key AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, and VPC, in the context of healthcare applications.
• Full-Stack Development: Proficiency in full-stack development, including front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, Python), with healthcare-specific use cases.
• Architectural Patterns: Strong knowledge of architectural patterns such as microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), with applications in healthcare.
• Security and Compliance: Deep understanding of healthcare security and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and experience implementing security controls and compliance frameworks in a healthcare environment.
• Healthcare Certifications:
  • Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP)
  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Healthcare (Preferred)
• Technical Leadership: Proven track record of providing technical leadership and mentoring to development teams, particularly in the healthcare industry.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in healthcare software systems.
• Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
• Agile/Scrum Experience: Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code (IaC), in healthcare settings.

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF) are highly desirable.
• Database Management: Experience with database design and management, including both SQL and NoSQL databases, used in healthcare applications.
• Cloud Cost Management: Experience with cloud cost management and optimization strategies, with a focus on healthcare solutions.
