ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be working from Office in India, collaborating and socialising with your colleagues across our two UK and Bulgaria Offices.
Occasionally, we would need your help outside of normal office hours (you might be required to work overnight on the weekend or to be on-call at times).
As a Database Administrator, you will provide ongoing delivery and support for well-recognised clients worldwide. You will be communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational colleagues to ensure database integrity and security. Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security.
- Monitoring and managing performance to provide fast responses to front-end users.
- Query tuning and process optimisation.
- Refining logical and physical database designs.
- Mapping out the conceptual designs for new databases.
- Performing scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities and upgrades.
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionaries.
- Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
- Carrying out capacity planning.
- Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
- Commissioning and installing new applications and customizing existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.
- Managing the security and disaster recovery aspects of databases.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working in a similar role.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Experience working in an environment using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and T-SQL.
- Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
- Willingness to learn based on feedback.
- Ability to identify opportunities and issues.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with Azure SQL Databases.
- Knowledge of Azure Infrastructure.
- Experience using Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence Database design principles and tools.
