As the Senior Database Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in providing Development and/or Production support. This includes tasks such as creating primary database storage structures, designing and creating primary objects, and modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance optimization. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing database performance, planning for backup and recovery, and allocating system storage while anticipating future storage needs. You will also be involved in creating database-related scripts and programs to support both development and production environments. Your responsibilities extend to researching, evaluating, designing, testing, recommending, and planning the implementation of new or improved RDBMS, ETL, and database tools.


This role also requires strong experience in Elasticsearch administration, including monitoring, scaling, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability in clustered environments.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in administering MySQL databases, including replication, tuning, backup, and recovery.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in administering Elasticsearch, including managing index lifecycles, node configurations, shard distribution, and cluster management.
  • Desired experience with AWS RDS , Azure Flexible Server and both self-managed MySQL instances.
  • Proficiency in handling multi-terabyte databases and high transaction volumes.
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch query optimization, index design, and performance tuning for search applications.
  • Proven track record in large-scale database and Elasticsearch upgrades and migrations.
  • Expertise in assisting development teams with performance tuning of SQL queries and Elasticsearch queries (DSL).
  • Highly proficient in proactive monitoring, replication, and performance tuning for MySQL and Elasticsearch clusters.
  • Strong expertise in building, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting, and monitoring production MySQL database servers and Elasticsearch clusters.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases with replication.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Elasticsearch clusters, ensuring fault tolerance and optimal search/query performance.
  • Optimize and tune both MySQL databases and Elasticsearch indices for performance and scalability.
  • Monitor database and Elasticsearch cluster health, perform capacity and usage planning, and recommend scaling strategies.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine DB and Elasticsearch tasks.
  • Troubleshoot database-related and search-related application performance issues.
  • Ensure security and data integrity for both MySQL instances and Elasticsearch clusters.
  • Perform routine and proactive maintenance of MySQL databases and Elasticsearch clusters, including upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Provide off-hours support to avoid downtime for critical systems.
  • Implement tools to automate database and Elasticsearch operations and monitoring.
  • Write Python and/or shell scripts for data loads, fallout checks, reporting, and Elasticsearch reindexing.
  • Test and validate disaster recovery plans, including cluster failover and recovery for MySQL and Elasticsearch.
  • Implement, document, and maintain roles and security configurations for MySQL databases and Elasticsearch clusters.
  • Research and evaluate alternatives, recommending solutions to improve database and search system reliability and scalability.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices for MySQL and Elasticsearch administration.
  • By including Elasticsearch administration as a key requirement, this role now covers comprehensive database and search engine support, essential for modern, data-intensive applications.
