Item products enable the meta-data and ontology of every product/product groups sold in Target. Item data is used by almost all systems in Target to run the business. Position Overview:
As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You will use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target’s technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues.
Technical skills: Java, SpringBoot, Kotlin, Micro services, API development, Postgres, MongoDB, NoSQL, Kafka, Redis, Docker, CICD or similar tech stack to build the platform.
About You:

Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, software design & architecture.

Expertise in architectural and design patterns, engineering practices and holding the highest levels of standards in Observability, Testing, Documentation, Logging etc.

Experience with object oriented and/or functional programming paradigm, design pattern, testing pattern and proficiency in Java/Kotlin.

Deliver high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact.

Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.

Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self- directed education.

Builds and practices competencies across architectural patterns such as Microservices, Event Driven architecture etc

Expertise in applying the standard design patterns templates to application development.

Work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.
