Business Title: Senior Network Operations Engineer

What you will do:

As a Senior Network Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Network Operations Engineers within the Technical Operations Centre during your shift. Ensuring efficient incident management, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues against defined SLAs and targets, whilst maintaining communication with internal teams, stakeholders and the Global Network Services Operations management team.

How you will do it:

  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor the Network operations engineers to ensure high performance and productivity.
  • Incident Management: Oversee the identification, resolution, and escalation of incidents related to network services in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Ensure constant monitoring of the company’s global network infrastructure, using a variety of monitoring tools.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations during the shift and ensure timely communication with management and affected teams.
  • Documentation: Maintain and update incident reports, shift handovers, and troubleshooting documentation, ensuring knowledge transfer between shifts.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other shifts, teams, and departments to address complex issues, plan maintenance activities, and support continuous service improvement.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure that all operations adhere to the company’s compliance, security, and safety standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for improvement and developing action plans.
  • Crisis Management: Lead the team through high-pressure situations such as major incidents, ensuring swift resolution and effective communication.
  • Shift Handover: Conduct thorough handovers with other shift leaders to ensure continuity of service and issue tracking.

What we look for:

Required

  • Education / Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
    • 5+ years’ experience in network operations in a global enterprise with complex infrastructure
    • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a NOC or similar environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong Cisco Routing/Switching configuration/diagnostic experience 
    • Strong Firewall configuration/diagnostic experience: Cisco ASA, Fortinet, Palo Alto
    • Experience with all Cisco LAN, WAN and WLAN technologies, VPN, load balancers, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, etc. 
    • Understanding network features and protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, etc
    • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solarwinds).
  • Certifications:
    • CCNA, ITIL, or similar certifications are highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and handle escalations.
    • Ability to work under pressure in high-stress environments.
