Position Summary:
In the role of Staff Engineer within the Digital Commerce Platforms group, your contribution will be crucial in crafting the architecture and driving innovation for enterprise eCommerce platforms like Thermo Fisher Scientific. This role places a strong emphasis on leading technical initiatives, mentoring teams, and delivering scalable, impactful, and secure solutions to address evolving business requirements. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will implement impactful projects while maintaining a steadfast focus on customer experience and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement fault-tolerant, distributed systems and cloud-native solutions using Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS), and other elastic platforms.

Champion modern software development practices, including microservices, API design, and DevSecOps principles.

Lead architecture and code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and improve the development lifecycle.

Drive the implementation of critical enterprise initiatives, focusing on cloud cost optimization, risk management, and legacy system modernization.

Spearhead AI and machine learning adoption to improve digital commerce capabilities, including anomaly detection and search optimizations.

Collaborate with global teams to deliver high-impact features, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and customer requirements.

Mentor and guide senior software engineers and software engineer 3 team members, encouraging a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Experience and Skills:
Technical Expertise:

Experience: 10+ years of software development experience with 3+ years in a technical leadership role.

Programming: Expertise in Java and strong proficiency in Python for backend development.

Cloud: Proven experience deploying and managing applications on AWS and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

Architecture: Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and secure software design principles.

Problem Solving: Outstanding analytical skills to navigate ambiguity and deliver innovative, scalable solutions.
Leadership and Collaboration:

Strong background of leading cross-functional teams and delivering sophisticated projects on time.

Ability to collaborate with various teams, present technical solutions, and build alignment across departments.

Experience mentoring engineers, encouraging standard methodologies, and cultivating a strong team culture.
Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with eCommerce platforms and revenue optimization strategies.

Experience with AI/ML tools, particularly generative AI solutions.

SAFe Agile certification or experience working within a SAFe framework.
