Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test firmware and OS components for embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure compatibility and performance.
  • Debug and resolve firmware and OS issues, ensuring reliability and stability.
  • Optimize code for performance, memory usage, and power consumption.
  • Knowledge of bootloaders, kernel, and device drivers.
  • Experience with build tools like Yocto
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Hands on Linux based embedded software development; able to own, create and deliver platform components, application development and analyze and resolve technical issues
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and C++ coding principles.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to embedded software team members during the development process
  • Conduct technical design reviews of software to ensure the reliability and performance
  • Interacting with global teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms
  • Ensuring SDLC process compliance during requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, and verification.
  • Working effectively in an Agile scrum team and continuously improving the team’s performance
  • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
  • Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
  • Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for overall software quality including unit testing and verification of the system.

Qualifications & Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree / Masters in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electronics or Software is preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in developing embedded Linux platform application
  • Proven experience in firmware and OS development for embedded systems.
  • Experience with TI TM4C / PSOC ARM or any Microcontrollers is highly desirable.
  • Strong C, C++ language skills.
  • Strong understanding of operating system concepts and real-time systems.
  • Should have hands on experience in Shell / perl/ python scripting
  • Experience with debugging tools and techniques.
  • Expertise in using Source control tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, especially when facing technical challenges
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree in engineering Compute Science or Electronics and Communication.
  • Hardware Expertise: Knowledge on ARM based processor architecture, knowledge on USB/Flash/LAN/WLAN/Bluetooth technologies.
  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues
  • Experience in Eclipse, GITLAB
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
