About the RoleAs a Staff Security Engineer, you will help develop Rubrik’s detection strategy, enhance threat visibility, and proactively hunt for adversaries using Rubrik data. Your mission will be to understand Rubrik’s data landscape, analyze security signals, and develop innovative techniques to detect and mitigate threats. You will work closely with Rubrik Zero Labs, Security Researchers, and Product Security teams to continuously improve Rubrik’s defensive posture.
What you'll Do- Build and optimize detections across security tools, SIEMs, and EDR platforms to identify malicious activity.
- Develop threat hunting methodologies to proactively search for advanced persistent threats (APTs) within Rubrik’s environment.
- Analyze threat feeds, IOCs, and TTPs to stay ahead of emerging threats and integrate intelligence into security operations.
- Work with security researchers to validate and operationalize findings into real-world detection rules and playbooks.
- Automate threat detection workflows using Python, PowerShell, or cloud-based automation tools.
- Collaborate with Rubrik’s security partners to investigate security incidents and improve Rubrik’s detection and response strategy.
- Participate in industry working groups and standards initiatives such as Cloud Security Alliance, etc.
- 10+ years of experience in security operations, detection engineering, or threat hunting.
- Strong understanding of attack frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK, and hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, XDR, and cloud security.
- Proficiency in log analysis, anomaly detection, and behavioral analytics.
- Experience working with threat intelligence feeds and integrating them into detection pipelines.
- Knowledge of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how attackers exploit cloud environments.
- Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) to automate security workflows.
Security certifications like GCIH, GCFA, OSCP, or AWS Security are a plus.
