About the role

We have a new role for Sustainability Data Product Engineer, located in our Global Capability Centre in Bangalore, India. As part of our Responsible Business strategy, Haleon has an ambitious and broad agenda for Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), with both internal and external commitments. Digital & Tech (D&T) is at the core of enabling the ESG strategy to drive advances in our technology and data ecosystems, to ensure we capture, report, and improve on all new emerging requirements in this space; whilst also looking to reduce our D&T footprint and raise understanding in this area across the D&T function.

ESG data is currently used to fulfil several regulatory reporting requirements, with future requirements increasing at speed. It is also required to support consumer facing claims, meet retailer survey requirements and provide the information required to list our products in high growth sustainable choice ranges. Future reporting requirements are driving towards an expectation that ESG data achieves the same level of risk management, governance, and controls as financial data.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about Sustainability and the positive impact which Haleon will drive as we deliver on our commitments.

Key responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of the organisation's sustainability landscape incl. systems/data sources, teams and roles are involved, and how their data needs to be used to support sustainability goals - also identifying gaps and proactive identification for how to remediate.

  • Accountable for ensuring timely delivery to support statutory and regulatory reporting operations which are critical to the enterprise.

  • Data Engineering to be delivered in an auditable and regulated environment.

  • Delivery in alignment to enterprise infrastructure in-line with data engineering standards and best practices (version control, automated testing, deployment, code standard/review, and maintenance).

  • This is a hands-on technical development/delivery role.

  • Manage the coding and technology required for e2e data lifecycle, including data quality and retention.

  • Coordinate the delivery across various teams within the D&T organisation incl. security, compliance, and infrastructure, as well as tech product teams, business product teams and business stakeholders.

  • Document low level design of data product features and perform knowledge transfer to operations teams who will be managing the solutions.

Qualifications and skills (Essential)

  • B.E/B.TECH/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience, with experience and a proven track record.

  • Ideal candidate would have an impressive hands-on work history in an advanced, recognized, and audited/regulated environment.

  • 8+ years total experience of which minimum 5 years of data engineering experience and strong experience of the following core Azure data platform components (or equivalent cloud platforms).

  • Distributed compute technologies such as Databricks & Spark.

  • Cloud Storage Technologies (Data Lake Store, Blob Storage, etc). 

  • Azure Data Warehouse/Synapse 

  • Azure Functions

  • Overall strong analytical skills.

  • Fluency with Agile (in a highly structured and robust reporting delivery management methodology format), DevOps and SAFe methodologies. Experience with Agile delivery frameworks tools: Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps (Pipelines, self-hosted agent, etc), GITHUB, GIT Actions, etc.

  • Fluency with Data/Platform/Reliability Engineering patterns for operational resilience & co-contribution development patterns. 

  • Ability to develop and tune Spark code for large data volumes.

  • Production experience delivering CI/CD pipelines across Azure and vendor products. 

  • Knowledge of ley architectural development and infrastructure patterns across code and infrastructure development. 

Qualifications and skills (Preferred)

  • Candidate possesses great communication skills with the ability to communicate inherently complicated technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels.

  • Knowledge of enterprise supply chain and/or ESG/Sustainability.

  • Should be experienced in working within global matrixed organization.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain inherently complicated technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders of all levels.
