About the role

As part of our Responsible Business strategy, Haleon has an ambitious and broad agenda for ESG, with both internal and external commitments. D&T is at the core of enabling the ESG strategy in order to drive advances in our technology and data ecosystems to ensure we capture, report and improve on all new emerging requirements in this space; whilst also looking to reduce our D&T footprint and raise understanding in this area across the D&T function. ESG data is currently used to fulfil several regulatory reporting requirements, with future requirements increasing at speed. It is also required to support consumer facing claims, meet retailer survey requirements and provide the information required to list our products in high growth sustainable choice ranges. Future reporting requirements are driving towards an expectation that ESG data achieves the same level of risk management, governance, and controls as financial data.

This is a critical role to operationalize and stabilize the Sustainability and ESG strategy of the organization with a high visibility across business units.

The responsibilities of a Sustainability Ops Lead are to be accountable for enterprise service operations of the Sustainability Data Products and closely collaborate with Sustainability Data Product and Platform Engineering leadership to ensure end-to-end operationalization and post implementation support for enterprise data products that represent all pillars of the Data Office and execute the Data Strategy around Sustainability. The role will report into the Head of Data Platform Operations.

The Sustainability Ops Lead will be accountable for ensuring timely operational readiness to support statutory and regulatory reporting operations which are critical to the enterprise. The role will ensure that the Governance, Risk, Compliance and Data Lifecycle objectives of the organization are met.

The Sustainability Ops Lead will play a key role in monitoring and executing day-to-day operations of Sustainability Products developed in different business areas and verticals of Data Office. Will lead Mid/Large Sized Operations team. Will use creativity and innovation to develop solutions to complex problems, ensuring solutions are consistent with organizational objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and escalations of data operations functions for Data and Sustainability products. Prepare metrics, dashboards, and tracking. Ensure SLAs exist and monitor response time. Manage and control the service quality by driving escalations and discussions with stakeholders to identify and implement improvements. Review and approve quality actions including Non-Conformance (NC) and/or Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA).

  • Engage with business partners by providing appropriate guidance on data operations. Work with IT partners to resolve production issues. Support New Product launches and business initiatives.

  • Function as Subject Matter Expert/Data Operationalization Lead for data products or functional area. Provide appropriate guidance on Data Operations, specifically sustainability products.

  • Continuous improvement of existing Data Operations Functionality and internal day-to-day Team Processes. Plan and execute the OPEX cost optimization initiatives.

  • Own documentation for area of responsibility. May include SOPs, Work Instructions (WIs), protocols, data operations catalogues, and other policy and procedure documents. Develop and deliver training to educate stakeholders on documented procedures, data flows, etc.

  • People/Team management skills – Lead, develop & retain talent.

  • Ensure all aspects of the Data Operations and Production Support principles are considered when developing and executing a Product Operationalization plan. This includes everything from Data Visualization, BI, Data Sciences, Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Platforms and Data Architecture.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a bridge between business users and engineering teams, providing regular updates on Incidents, Issues, changes, and initiatives.

  • Ensuring close alignment to internal & external regulatory and compliance requirements with no critical or high findings or violation against them.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E, B.Tech), MCA or equivalent degree from reputed institution.

  • Proven Experience (10+ years) in IT Operations Management, Data Platform Operations Management Global Delivery or a related role with a focus on sustainability initiatives.

  • Must have excellent understanding of Cloud Operations such as Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service (preferably Azure).

  • Sound knowledge of underlying Data Platform technologies such as Databricks, Power BI, Data lakes, Data Factory, Synapse, Purview, No SQL etc.

  • Excellent understanding and proven track record of establishing ITIL and Agile principles in a large organization.

  • Strong understanding and focus on Sustainability initiatives being taken across the service lines viz Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality etc in various industries.

  • Strong focus on Service Improvement Initiatives, Quality of Service, Compliance adherence, Security of data and IT resources.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage stakeholders, including executives, customers, and partners.

  • Knowledge of any industry standard sustainability Management tool such as Cority, Quentic, Ecometrica etc will be a definite plus.
