The Content Editor thoroughly reviews technical content such as online Help and UX/UI] content for a professional team of content designers and engages in quality improvement projects to ensure that the content we deliver to clients represents the quality, consistency, and usability according to our standards. The Content Editor also has a key role in training and education for writers, including maintaining and updating the Content Guide.

  • Job Responsibilities

    Reviewing content

    Perform thorough user-focused reviews of a variety of products, supporting content designers in timely sprint and release content deliverables, to align with our overall content strategy.

    Ensure that all content is clear and consistent; meets our legal, accessibility, and usability requirements; and meets our writing styles and standards, especially guidelines for inclusive language, plain language, reuse, and minimalism.

    Constantly advocate for the user perspective when editing both Help and UX content.

    Serve as an expert on styles, standards, and quality control/review processes.

    Conduct content audits and other quality improvement projects.

    Understand UX concepts and edit UX/UI content.

    Training and providing education for content designers

    Identify areas where writers need professional development or training and communicate with team managers.

    Provide feedback, training, and support to writers or to new editors.

    Help maintain the internal Content Guide, making necessary corrections, updates, or changes as needed to ensure accuracy and usability.

    Engaging with the team

    Attend and actively participate in all regular Editorial and Content Design meetings, as well as assigned project or task force meetings.

    Engage in timely discussions about work projects, tasks, and questions in the Content Design channels and chats on Microsoft Teams.

    Education Required: 

    Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field or an equivalent amount of professional experience.

    Experience Required:

    2+ years of experience editing technical content for a U.S. English audience

    Experience with a range of editing levels, from proofreading to developmental editing

    Experience using style guides

    Experience with minimalism and other content design best practices

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with topic-based authoring

    Experience creating and maintaining an in-house style guide

    Experience working with XML-based authoring tools (such as Oxygen XML or XMetal) and DITA concepts

    Experience using a CMS such as Tridion, AEM, Ixiasoft, or Vasont

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style

    Ability to collaborate with writers, managers, and other reviewers in producing and improving content

    Strategic mindset and good project management skills

    High level of comfort in working with fully remote, globally distributed teams

    Ability to advocate for the user perspective when editing both Help and UX content

    Comfort working on multiple projects and shifting priorities

    Knowledge of content management best practices

    Ability to manage your schedule and ask for help when needed to meet delivery timelines
