SonicWall is looking for talented individuals who want to work in cutting-edge technology with a dynamic, fast-growing company. Our Technical Writer position is responsible for developing and maintaining technical content to support multiple SonicWall product lines, including Network Security, Managed Security Services, Cloud Secure Edge, and Endpoint Security solutions. Specific responsibilities include planning document deliverables for new products and features, participating in cross-functional team meetings, tracking and reporting on user-visible product changes, writing content help for new products and features, and maintaining existing documentation for ongoing releases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly, including conceptual information and procedural instructions
  • Work in a modular fashion to ensure all product features are documented within a tight deadline
    Create accurate, concise, usable, highly-polished content for administrator guides, online help, and release notes
  • Collaborate effectively with globally-distributed teams to gather information, get technical review of content drafts, and communicate product documentation requirements and schedules
  • Deliver all content and help on schedule with a high degree of quality
  • Put strong emphasis on performing content reviews and self-edits
  • Use the product software to create and verify procedures and take screenshots for documentation
  • Use the product hardware to perform initial cabling, network configuration, and product registration for creating Getting Started Guides or Quick Start Guides

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of strong Technical Writing experience
  • Expert level proficiency in written and oral English language
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with global teams
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and MadCap Flare or equivalent
  • Independent, self-driven, responsible, collaborative, results-driven, organized, passionate, and innovative

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS or BA degree in Computer/Engineering, Technical Communications, or English with a technical minor or proficiency with technology
  • Experience creating content aimed at administrators and users of complex technical products, including ability to consolidate appropriate information from functional specifications written by developers
  • Experience working in a professional technical publications environment and owning a document from beginning to end
  • Experience with content sharing and content management strategies
  • Experience acting as project lead within the department, including training and mentoring other team members
  • Experience writing content that supports localization needs
